Hey SNRScion, I may take you up on those shock towers. My car pushes real bad. Maybe I can take some weight off the rear with your product.

D**n, this looked great today on the street - found a closed end street with new tarmac, put a big smile on my face to burn some rubber there.. especially like the open rear of the body and smoke coming out when taking off..

this weekend tracks were closed due to national holiday (mid-summer you know) but hopefully soon......

Bobby,

I'll try to address what I know.

Brushless systems: Tekin vs Castle vs Novak. Tekin gets my vote. Novak is behind the game in 1/8 scale brushless systems. I prefer Tekin over Castle because it gives you the option to run sensored as well, which for on-road purposes is important. If you plan on doing offroad then go with Castle because the Tekins cooling fans bust real easy after big off road jumps.

As far as the KV for the motor. First you need to decide how many cells you want to run. 4S, 5S or 6S. It seems GTe racing is leaning towards 4S. Personally I prefer 5S, I find it to be the happy medium, you get longer run times and less heat.

Once you decide how many cells you plan on going with, you can use this chart to select the motor KV. You want to pick a motor that keeps you in the 30k - 35K rpm range.

http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info...oducts_id=3076

I went with a 1700KV system with 5 cell. Right in the centre of the RPM range. If need be, I can gear up to reach the desired top speed.

Hope this helps.

My converted Kyosho GT has their e-conversion, fits perfectly and is holding up just fine. I put a Mamba Monster w/2200 KV motor. I'm running 4S at the moment and I'm around 35000 rpm, about in the middle of the RPM range of the motor. Temps are below 150 without cooling fans or holes cut in my Subaru body. It runs mid 40's. I have not checked the run time, but everytime I charge the batteries I have only used about 2100 mah out of 4500. These are very inexpensive hardcase Turnigy batteries from Hobby King.

Higher voltage would be nice and work better but the batteries cost quite a bit more, you really need well matched packs.

I'm not racing it so I did not see the need for the sensored motor setup from Tekin. I am also not crazy about soldering 10 gauge wire anymore, especially on a $200.00 speedo. The Tekin setup is more expensive than the Mamba. The Mamba is also very tough in this application. It drives great!

When I'm ready the 2200 KV motor and a 6S pack will put me just under 70 MPH!

Cool

Its time for some new tires, the GRP's are just about gone. I am going to try some Ipanema Road Stars (I run on concrete).

Cool

Not for me, more complexity (brake servo needed), although it helps keep the speedo cooler. I would think a 2 speed would also have problems shifting as the batteries go down unless your are interested in speed runs. MikaR has a 2 speed setup in his.
If you want to go 100 mph, probably needed.

It's almost 100 degrees in Louisana with high humidity. I am very happy with my big electric Sube. The setup I am using was recomended by Castle, including the gear ratio, 18 /46. I have a spool instead of a center diff and run the plastic Kyosho spur with n/problems.
