I like them, but I think this thread is related to nitro powered GT racing
Paint up one of your cool paint jobs for me and I will vote either way!

I do the same thing, my airbrush does'nt put enough paint on these big bodies.

I can't wait to get the 18 and 19 tooth pinnion for my GTE, how is yours running speed and run-time wise?

true..

Myself..I was using Orion VE (2050KV) and IGW-008 tranny, very nice. Later I lowered the gearing by putting 10T pinion gears with ST-RR ring gears, but I don't think it was worth doing. I should put it back together and try it on our track. Fast for sure.

Currently I'm running the Inferno VE as is on the road close by having a big jump there and having lots of air with my son who runs the Ultima SC10. Much fun!

I kept breaking on steering servo's though (it's a heavy car) but today I bought one crazy Futaba BL servo that can handle 30kg with .14s/60deg at 6V. It was expensive but I hope worth the money. It's the strongest you can get that size (I was told). Handled harsh landings well since.

I forgot, you are using a 2-speed, what kind of run time do you get, what capacity and how many cells are you using?

2 x 2S 4000mAh Orion 25C lipo. There are better ones available now from Orion, the carbon series, like 50C, more power output

Runtime was decent, never clocked it. I wasn't running on a track (it was early spring) so I got bored much earlier before the batteries died

With the tranny, you need a brake servo, right. It's an easy mod with VE (just punching a hole to the radio box cover for another servo and connecting it to the aux and mixing with gas/brake. Then taking off the brake&reverse from the speed controller)

Cool

I have a 4S brick pack in mine at the moment. I plan to stick with a single speed and drop in a 5 or 6S battery if I feel the need to go faster. Too much homework to install my servo today, but tommorrow...

4S on batts its a good way to go, specially in the future ROAR put an eye on the class, as i think they will push for 4S hardcase batts.

The way I understand, the brushless electric motors turn so many rpm and have so much torque that a single speed works fine.

+1, 4s and "charging bags"

Default New Kyosho 2 speed tranny (shoe type) 2nd gear

Unfortunate for me I stripped the second gear on my new 2 spd tranny It's so new gears are in back order for 3 weeks

Does anybody know if I could use gears from an 1/8th scale onroad car? Serpent, Mugen or Kyosho? I hope I can fix it before friday if not I'm going to have to stick with the old version What a bummer!

Actually 5S is the happy medium between 4S and 6S... You'll end up running a lower KV motor, which will run cooler and longer run times as well.

On my personal GT project, I'm going with 5S LiFePo batteries. Wont be needing that "charging pouch" nor a hard case

I believe the gears for that two-speed are unique. I spoke with the engineer that designed the transmission, and to make it fit properly, apparently they couldn't use the Evolva gears, such as with the Blackhawk transmission. The cost would have also been considerably higher. You might check with Kyosho America tomorrow afternoon PST. I heard they're expecting a parts order and the gears might be included. I can't be sure, but it wouldn't hurt to check.
