GT class--buggy-based on road!

Sure you can, with the original Rally Game class bodies. Subaru, Ford Escort, Renault Magane, Lancia, etc.
When that class originally started they run in dirt tracks, then, as in todays WRC, they started to race in Asphalt, and stayed there, so the class has evolved in Europe too, it is now legally called GT Class, because of it racing only in asphalt tracks, that is why they have some belt driven chasis, and have included the 1:1 FIA GT Class bodies.
The FIA defines a GT car as "an open or closed automobile which has no more than one door on each side and a minimum of two seats situated one on each side of the longitudinal centre line of the car; these two seats must be crossed by the same transversal plane. This car must be able to be used perfectly legally on the open road, and adapted for racing on circuits or closed courses."
FIA currently defines three categories of GT cars: GT1, or Grand Touring Cars, and GT2, or Series Grand Touring Cars. Both categories are based on production road car designs, which must be produced in a minimum quantity of 25 examples to qualify. Both types may undergo significant modifications from the road car they are based on, but GT1 allows the use of exotic materials, better aerodynamics, larger brakes, wider tires and larger engine admission restrictors.
Since the 2006 season, the FIA created a new class called GT3. GT3 cars are closer to their production counterparts and are very simply racetrack prepared with the essentials (rollcages for safety, stripped interiors, race spec fuel tanks, etc.).
So when you look at the actual offering of RC scale bodies in Europe, you will find from typical Rally sedan cars to pure GT racers like McLaren, Maserati, Saleen, Ford GT, Jaguar R, etc, etc....
BTW, did you check on BYCMO for a body for your DM ONE???

And im pushing my club to accept the short chassis (long GT2 style and DM ONE chassis is mandatory now i dont know why), so i can go for better bodies alternatives ...
If not, will try to fit a mclaren from GT2 to DM ONE or even the corvette, i keep looking at the back IPANEMA corvette and looks amazing, and does seem to have a good amount of downforce for rear part of chassis.

I checked in spanish forum, and Bycmo cars have 380mm wheelbase, so their bodies will fit perfectly on your DM ONE which has 377mm.
They have 2 very nice bodies based on the Mclaren, which are named GT 2008, and GTR. You can dowload their catalog from thier web site with nice pics.

I know my friend, but it seems that Bycmo people never answer emails !!!
Anyway, we have almost 3 1/2 months
Will be very nice to race long and heavy DM ONE chassis against lighter Kyoshos and SPEC's ... in my country we only use long chassis

if you guys happen to get some pictures of these BYMCo Bodies try to post them on this site. I am also racing the original DM-1 at the GTWC.I decided to use the Mercedes DTM body but would like to see what other options there may be. People here in Maryland were running the DTM body and the Porsche also.

So, from what i can see is that any body that doesn't allow the engine head to stick out is ok. There is no way,in 1:1, that two people would fit in the body that Paul was running. That's fine just want to know if bodies like that will be allowed at the GT race. The GT class is called that because it started out as only inferno gt cars. Since the class has grown and more chassis (vehichles) have been added it's still been called GT. Can't wait till March.

RCMIKE has a good point about the bodies. When and if we go to GTP style bodies, it's only a step away from the generic wedges run by the 8th pan cars. Please don't make us do that. This has been a great class to get a variety of bodies in, and I would hate to see it become one where only one body works better than all the rest.

Here's a prime example of what none of us want to see screw up our growing GT1 or GT2 class.
Kudos to it’s designer, for the aggressive aero-design and sneaky bubble over the engine’s cooling head fins in an attempt to conceal it’s true nature. We don’t think any of us will ever see a car like this driven legal on a street; much less in any fast-food drive through. lol.
I'd also love to see what kind of visability you'd have on the street over the front fenders too, lol
While this style body may fall within the rules followed in some “Rally Game” type R/C racing classes, this style body pictured above unfortunately doesn’t fit into the spirit & rules of our GT1 Open or GT2 Spec class rules.
This type of body is not a legal for the Ipanema Sports 2010 GT World Championships.

Thanks for clearing that up jspeed that body looks pretty much like my protoform 908 body for my 1:8 scale GT is supposed to be about production cars like mustangs corvettes audi mercedes maserati etc. It's to bad that ofna does not offer more of these body.

It's all good.
To me the most cool aspect of racing GT cars is how they look like real cars on the tracks.
I don't think they need to be carbon copies of exact real cars, but more that they do look like a car; not a wedgie, or a door-stop lol
The car Paul used to win in Vegas is close to crossing the line, but it still looks like some kind of 2 million dollar dream GT car. I'd be more worried of the racer, than that body he used, ya know.

The body Paul used is available through Fioroni USA. It is not yet listed on the fioroniusa.com website, but it will be soon, along with a few other offerings. The car Paul drove/drives is an OFNA DM1S. His car is very fast and drives very well, not entirely due to the body, but mainly because of the meticulous build and attention to setup. Like many DM1S owners, he has replaced the push rod suspension with a conventional shock layout, and made a few other inexpensive mods to the chassis, suspension, and drivetrain. If you have ever seen him at a race you will note that he is constantly tearing the car apart and trying different things, many of which don't work, but in the end he is able to make the car better.

We provide to all racers same tyres (hard compound), so you don't need to have the most powerul engine or the up-to-date chassi to win!!!
But we have now the problem of bodies!!!
We think for the next years, we will switch to allowed only "cool" GT cars!!!
The body up above don't meet with what we want!!
It's not fun!!!
If you want this, drive 1/8 on-road!!!
