I just want to know does 45 shores sounds too SOFT? I think I will pick 2 full sets, thinking a set of 45s and a set of 50s...qualifier are 10 minutes each and the main are 30 minutes long...

Thanks for the advise....
Generally speaking here's a temp guide that might help with your 10 minute qualifers & 30 minute mains running Ipanema slicks.

Up to 70 degrees - 35 to 40 shore
70 to 80 degrees - 40 to 45 shore
80 to 90 degrees - 45 to 50 shore
90 degrees or more - 50 to 55 shore
Over 100 degrees - 60 to 65 shore or call a doctor

If the track is wet or dirty look at the "Road Star" AWR series in the same shore ratings for temps.

Good luck at the races

THANK YOU ALL for the Ipanema Tire information, I think Ipanema should list their TEMPERATURE GUIDE onto their website for the customer reference. Also, any plan to make BLACK RIMS...? Black rims are at least .5 sec faster per lap....

Walter...thanks for making me look stupid again, and you are right, instead of buying 100 different RC cars, I should skip 1 or 2 and get a Dm1 spec. But you know my situation this year, buying is never my problem, the problem is can I actually USE IT...that is my problem. BTW...IGT = Imaginary GT..? I missed that totally..

I don't want to try the correct people opinions in anyway. If they feel GT2 is not good, then let it be that way (reading from several topics). My experience is however the opposite. This is the second year I'm driving IGT, and for this summer I put together a GT2 with Evolva 2-speed (we call it the "evo") and I was driving it on the weekend (now that the snow has melt). It is a blast! The track was't big but I was having head-to-head competition with a race V-one-RRR WCE with LRP spec 2 engine. Myself I had a Team Orion CRF .21. Corvette body works on track and is good looking, too. Getting McLaren soon for a try. I didn't break a part and I rarely have even though I've raced with it several times (I won the local unofficial championship last year).

Kyosho has recently come out with a B-version for the GT2 gear set. Don't know much details of it yet, but here's a photo

Just thought I'd let ya'll know that the Ipanema Black Hawk SR 2-speed transmission conversion kits will be shipping out next week.

The kit comes with detailed instructions and some real nice parts to build a bullet proof transmission for IGT2 cars. It uses Kyosho components from various cars including the world champion Evolva 1/8 scale on-road car.

The "Black Hawk SR" transmission conversion kit has been race tested and elevates the performance level of the IGT2 into a world class race winner.
The transmission will support even the highest HP nitro engines. A version for IGT1 cars is also in the works as you read this and will be availaable to dealers in a week

Race to win, with Ipanema!

well little late for me jspeed, I just put in the ofna two speed in my car. I bought light chassis on ebay which found it that the spur gear opening in that chassis is already wider to fit the ofna gears. then only thing I changes was universal dog bones, and top plate for the breaks.

Here's a video of a similar tranny that the Ipanema car has above.
Engine is Team Orion .21 buggy, but it was rather cold and the engine was on the rich side and didn't produce it's peak power, enough though to see how it works I hope. On a weekend after I was able to tune the car for race conditions on the track, including tires, chassis setup, transmission shiftpoint (easy to do!) and engine tuning for 120-125C. It was a bullet then.

thanks,
The IGT1 and DM1 Spec (short one) use the same size body, and the IGT2 and DM1 (1/7 scale) use the same size bodies. Body mounting post holes are in different locations.
