Oh believe me, in my limited time that I've been doing RC I can see that ROAR is the best thing and the worst thing for the hobby

Mostly I was just curious to see what rules they came up with.

It was interesting to see that BMT chassis come out recently. Up until then, everything I've seen has been in the spirit of the class but that chassis is clearly not in the same class as the IGT, DM-1, the Losi, and several other models I've seen.

FYI, BMT had a Rally Game car out several years prior to the Kyosho IGT.

FYI, Kyosho had rally game (Landmax Series) cars years before BMT.

A true comparision would be the Ofna GTP & the Kyosho GT the Dm-1 is not a good comparision it is in a class by itself. If you compare the BMT to the DM-1 it is the same point totally different

I have put on races with both the IGT2 and the DM-1. Both of these cars seem to have an advantage or disadvantage on a couple of things. Remember you still have to drive the car. I have seen both cars take wins in 20 minute mains. In all the other classes of cars each one seems to have something special that another one does not have. Thats what seperates a Serpent from a Mugen, Xray or Kyosho or a Mugen from a Serpent, Xray or Kyosho etc.

You are talking to a guy who use to race a Landmax II against 1/8 scale buggies. So that is old news... The Landmax series of cars weren't even close to the popularity of the Kyosho IGT cars. BMT didn't produce there Rally Game car because of the Landmax.

I like that. I sounds like a common sense rule that makes sense to all.

On the shorter courses I doubt a smoking hot motor will make that much difference anyway, can't use the extra HP. On a large course I could see a "run away" situation.

The way I understand the "Claimer" rule, at the end of the days races, if someone has a wild mod engine that blows everyone's doors off, you can just "lay claim" to it and the owner has to sell it for the agreed $200 "claimer" price.

It's intended to keep people from buying an engine for $200 or less and sending it to "an expert" engine mod guy to "cheat their way into the winner's circle". It also helps those types of racers to compete with "stock store-bought" engines & to promote "a level playing field".

Rules & laws are what seperates us from animals, lol
