How to properly tune an engine for on-road racing,
#31
....slap motor in car......run slightly rich.....then lean as needed after a few tanks.......letting motor idle for break in is a waste of time and fuel..........ic engines need a "load" to be broken in properly......ie. running in car..........heat case with heat gun before firing first time to expand case and liner and return to BDC when motor dies after a run.........
and the novarossi + motor too.
there is so much pinch you have to get rid of it slowly.
older novas i did this and it was fine.

The load that the engine needs is usually from the flywheel. I do not use the break in stand much anymore when I use the heat gun and flywheel method has worked the best for me. When we are running in the engine with the flywheel no clutch method, at higher idle we are just going for the initial break in of the piston/sleeve the loaded part is after you have some fitting of the piston and sleeve. The WOT method gets the job done but gets the motor worn out faster. Nothing wrong with it of you need it now and are willing to accept the life of the engine is about half. You need it for the mains todays. Then the only way but you can be willing to bet that you will be rebuilding the motor after. As for the loads on the motor the rod fit to the crank and the piston pin. They are free running already and there is a slight difference in size from start.
