id go for the nt1 too. really smooth drivetrain. It really depends on the engine anyway! check the new hpi rs4 nitro with .18 hpi engine or the traxxas nitro4tec, this kits are really fast on straights.

On the real, for the money I think PowerRacing XR80 RTR. I've seen guys get these things and drag with them and they are very quick! $400.00

52 port. I think he wants to be able to let it idle for at least a secound before it runs out of fuel.

The fastest cars straight out of the shop are the competition 8th scale onroad cars with the fastest .21 engines. But in a straigt way you can take a look at the Shumacher Fusion and replace the Thundertiger engine by a fast Novarossi/Sirio/Picco engine.
So far ever recorded a nitro was about 100mph with a HPI RS4 and a .21 engine. Electric 160mph (not an official record) with a special brushless setp.
