Default HPI Firestorm a good choice?

I'm a total noob. I don't want to spend more than $250.

I just want something that is fun, and not heavy on maintenance. Need a good intro RC.

are you a complete and utter noob or sorta a noob? i just got a kyosho alpha 3, its a very good starter nitro, its cheap, simple, and fast enough if ur just beginning to drive, its about 25mph top speed stock. if you have some experience i bet the firestorm would be cool, ive read a bit about them they seem pretty cool. also do you want offroad or onroad? the alpha 3 is a rally car so its mainly onroad but can handle some offroad terrain (like snow or hard packed dirt id imagine)
