But the Shimo chassis is 4mm and it is lighter than the kit chassi which is 3mm but it is dubious if the shimo chassi is more rigid.

Pinion question.
Hi to all,
I want to change the standard 1st speed pinion which is 21T to 20T to get more pick up. So my question is do I have to bring down the 2nd speed pinion also,I mean from 26T to 25T and what about the spurs? I run a V1RR Evo in a medium size track with alot of tight corners and a long straight of about 50 metres. Thanks.

What engine do u have if u have a powerful one like a Rody, JP or Nova max u could get away with a 5t split but no more than that or else the engine will bog down when shifting. I think it would be more preferable if there was a 4t split for increased shifting efficency.

it is all up to your engine power, different track layout would required different gearing. i suggest you to go with 20/25 and go up one gear on the 2nd speed pinion if your engine reaches max rpm too soon on the straight.

yes but you also need to consider your clutch and 2speed setting. you should consider that it is a whole system.

If it's any help, we run 20/61 for 1st. and 25/55 for 2nd. on a medium sized twisty track - maybe similar to yours. We were also looking for a bit more low down acceleration.
Set the second gear so that the engine peaks at the end of the longest straight and then choose first gear to take care of the low speed stuff, bearing in mind you don't want a bigger split than is necessary. We run a six tooth split at another track. It's all a matter of compromise and it sounds like your going in the right direction.
