I run the X15 turbo inline. It's awesome on the MT12 engine.

Hey guys just wanted to say thanks for alot of the suggestions about stiffining the rear of the mtx. I ran my first race yesterday at crsytal park, and even though i was in the C main, I did come in 4th, which I don't think is too bad considering it was my first race. Again thanks alot guys.

Don't know if you made it Sun, but if you did I was the only one running a BMW body, while the rest of the field had stratus body.

I would like to know if the Kawahara two speed clutch is worth the money over the stock type clutch? What are the benefits of this type of clutch? Also, I remember somebody had a web site showing exactly how to setup a centax clutch, does anybody know the link to this site?
Thanks,
Thanks,
#1251
The shoe type 2 speed clutch will provide a smoother gear change over the finger type. You may find that the car 'jerks' when the finger type changes speed, this will be gone with the shoe type clutch. It's your call as to whether the extra money is worth it to get rid of this feature of the finger type clutch!

how to build the centax clutch?
i am woundering is there a fine detailed explanation of building the mtx2 centax clutch in the pro spec kit ., and some kit building tips for me? thanks alot guys.chris

If you ignore the bit about the flywheel weights (which are different on the Mugen clutch), the instructions for the HPI Proceed Centax is fairly clear. It will bring you within the ballpark setting.

crowmaxx: I run the Kawahara 2 spd clutch in both Mugen
Lolas that I race...in my case I was satisfied with the stock
finger type 2spd clutch until I switched over from stock MT-12
and RB X12 engines to Richey modified engines. Then the
shifting became inconsistent because his engines rev very
quickly. My recommendation is that if you are not having
any problems with the stock MTX-2 2 spd finger type shifter,
then stick with it and don't waste your money...they are
extremely sturdy and reliable. On the otherhand, the
Kawahara clutch type 2 speed shifter solved my problems
and is of excellent quality.

Technical specifications of turbo glowplugs
Turbo glowplug was conceived to give to the engine higher performance and it is available in 8 versions: 4 hot and 4 cold. You find here with a description schedule that gives to the drivers the possibility to choose the suitable glowplug according to the situation he is operating.
Type Features Nitro % Increas Perf Outside temp
C.5 TC Hot w/ hot filament 10-20% + 10% from 5° to 10°
C.6 TC Hot w/ avgfilament 10-20% + 8% from 5°to 20°
C.7 TC Hot w/ coldfilament 20-30% + 6% More than 20°
C.8 TC Hot w/verycold filament 20-30% + 5% More than 20°
C.5 TF Cold w/ hotfilament 20-30% + 15% from 10° to 20°

Merits and failings of turbo glowplugs
Hot glowplug guarantees a better adjusting of the engine at low RPM while the cold glowplug gives a better performance at high RPM. If you have a cold glowplug on your engine and have difficultes to keep it regular at low RPM, we advise you to make the base speed a little higher. In case the engine goes out again, we advise you to replace the above mentioned glowplug with a cold one; these difficulties in the carburation aren't due to a bad running-in of the engine but to anomalous climatic and meteorological conditions (see high degree of humidity, altitude, low pressure, etc...).
Important
During the installation of a turbo glowplug on the under head verify that no dust or any other material come inside because they could make precarious the seal of this glowplug during the compression.

re:
so what do you all use hot or cold plugs? for racing. and tuning.
i have a mugen/novarossi MT12 turbo engine and the plug in it is a # 5 . but i am not sure if it is a hot or cold plug that comes in it from the factory. so i am needing replacements for my engine and i have tried contacing mugen but no reply. so i run it in temps from 40-70 degrees from fall untill spring then the temp ranges 70-90 summer and i am using 20% nitro. can you help me out on the plugs to run and the part# for those plugs to order.ok thanks alot ,chris

carpet_killa: The MT12 Turbo engine comes with the C5TC hot
plug...the difference between the C5Tc and the C5Tf (cold plug)
is the thickness of the wall around the glow element...thin wall
is hot, thick wall is cold. For colder temps, run the hotter plug.
If temps get above 90F, you may try either a colder range:
i.e. C6 or the C5Tf. With 20% nitro, I think you will be fine with
the stock C5Tc. I have raced the MT12 Turbo with both 30%
and 40% nitro with the stock .3 mm head shim...30% for the
large 1/8 type tracks and 40% for small parking lot tracks and
was able to use the C5Tc glow plug in 60-70F weather.
As for turbo plug availablility...Ace Hardware Hobbies always
has plenty of all ranges in stock.
