Radio Question- What is best, 3pk etc..
 

Hey Guys, well I'm after a new radio..and I'm confused on what to get..

I have come up with:

Futaba 3PK/ 2.4GHZ FAAST
Futaba 3pk/ Spektrum
Nomadio Sensor
JR Z1/Spektrum

I was wondering which is more reliable etc?

Also, with the 3PK..if it is the radio to get..what 3PK do you reccomend? as theres a billion of them...

-Comes down to what you are used to. 3PK, Z1 and M11 are probably the most popular at the tracks. I personally just bought an M11 and love it. Everyone makes a good radio nowadays. Also some guys at my track have been using Spektrum DX3's. Seem like a good radio and they are a little cheaper as compared to buying an M11 and adding a Spektrum module/receiver. Good luck..

I had a spektrum DX 3.0...and it cut out on me with my 8th scale..and I wasnt happy seeing a $3000 car full stick down the straight..hit the curb and clear a 1.5metre safety fence..and too here my brand new ninja revin full stick upside down for 10 seconds :flaming: So lucky it is ok aye! 4 tanks old it was.. I guess its run in now lol..

m11 does look like a good radio too..

Radio feel is so personal (the same radio one person swears by another will say they hate the feel) but my vote is definitely the 3PKS.

I had the M11 and sold it after a few months. I like everything about the 3PK better. I think it has the best combination of feel, functions, menus of the top radios. Having said that, the Helios is extremely popular at my local track. Whatever you do make sure you hold them all before you buy.

The answer will depend on who you ask. Still, here are the top 3 radios: 3PK, M11, Helios.

All of them will accept spektrum mods... it just depends on what style you like. The radar gun feel of 3pk.. the podium looking m11.. spaceship phazer gun helios.. They are all excellent radios. however, the spektrum is NOT glitch free. This is why I have switched my 3PK from spektrum to the Fasst system. I was fooling around with my serpent vector one day on a parking lot trying to set it up, and all of a sudden on one of the highspeed passes, the throttle chopped and nothing responded. Straight into a curve it went, shattering the front end, bending the chassis plate. Yes, this with the spektrum. Another day in at a different parking lot, setting up my ntc3 for club racing, a different spektrum receiver did the same, this time sending my car into a speed bump fast, launching the car, landing, breaking the engine mounts off of my Rody modded RB V12. That taught me never to drive without a body on. I have to admit, I have not experienced glitches during racing, and being crystal free is great, but I have never had this kind of glitching when I was using FM crystals. Having gotten rid of all my fm receivers and crystals, I plopped 150 on the futaba Fasst system and I have never experienced the problem again. No glitching whatsoever. None. It works the way it should. And the response time on the fasst system is incredible. As fast or faster than the futaba HRS system I used to have.

Just sharing my experiences. I personally have a 3PK, and used to own an M8. they have/had more than enough options than I would ever use. But with these high end radios, it does pay to send them back to the factory about once every 2 years to get them serviced and retuned.

Go to your local hobby shop. Ask them if you could hold the 3 transmitters. Pick out the one that calls out your name.

Im thinking of getting the 3PK Super, with Fasst System..quicker reaction time too..

You can buy seperate fasst receiver correct?

Does anyone know where to get these in the states for a decent price? Like..obvioudly I dont want the standard futaba module...?

Also, will any 3PK transmitter work with the fasst? or will only the synth versions work?

Dinball RCmart is most likly the cheapest but they dont have the 2.4ghz models

or

RC Mushroom but dont have the 2.4ghz futaba system as a package

you might be better off buying say the 27mhz kit selling the transmitter and receiver and buying the futaba 2.4 ghz system they go for like $150-$200usd
