Default Motonica coming

to Brooklynhobbies.com next week. This is the car that finished 2nd in the pre-world's. It's kind of pricey if you ask me. Info is for someone who wants to try something new other than Mugen, Kyosho and Serpent.

$680.00. I'm worried about support. It's a sweet looking kit from the pictures I've seen.

It is isn't it? I can get a MRX4- R shipped and delivered for $480 and have $200 left over to help pay for an engine.

if you worried about 200 bucks, you better get into another hobbie.

Are you kidding. With new things like this I tend to buy buy buy. I suffer when I get the bank statement at the end of the month -- oh well, you only live once. But in this case I just got a new mrx4-r and 2 mtx4 (bunch of hop-ups), 3pk with fasst system with 3 sets of reciever 3 engines and so on and so on. All this with the last 3 months. I'm a few grand down the hole. If this was really cheap now or if it came out before I purchased the mrx4-r I would've probably went the montonica route and set aside the support. I think it's kind of cool having something competitive tha is different from everyone else.

$680.00 Good Lord, you can have enough for another motor there. Support is the key thing car might be nice like the SMP Slide although you would have to buy parts most likely from over seas and buy them in bulk so you might wanna think about what's practicall to run or if you just simply want to be unique then get it. Waiting arround for parts sucks too so goodluck on that.

Maybe $680 sounds like a lot of money but.... a few years a go actually this where the prices. I remember i pay $ 630 for a Vector Spec 99 and same amount of money for a Kyosho Fantom 2001.
Beside this i can't believe an engine today is way more expensive than a kit. Don't get me wrong, I am not happy with high prices, i wish that this sport was less expensive, but come on engines more expensive than a car kit? Something is wrong!!

Sorry, not willing to mess with the Moto thread, just my 0.2

Man where do you get those prices? and shipped? That's sounds to me like dealer cost. Mugen must be desperate or they are bypassing the dealers

Well, if the stock kit comes really hopped-up like others say then it might be worth it. I put a least $200 in hop-ups on my mrx4-r (mostly carlsen parts) not including engine and pipe. Funny thing, in my case 1/8 scale has been cheaper to support than the 1/0 scale. Can you imagine bringing a Montonica to your local track-- everyone will be gawking at it as it will probably be the 1st one the've ever seen. Some will probably never head of it. Kick ass with it and everybody wants one.

Brooklynhobbies -- it was free shipping for a while, then it was that price + shipping (but they threw in a free $80 carlsen temp gun), now they are out of stock. I think they buy in a bulk (I actually have evidence of this in my packagingfrom them) and their mark up is not that high. When I bought the 2 mtx4's my 1st shipment said "40 of 140" and the 2nd shipment said "63 of 140". Three later they were out of stock but got a bunch of mrx4-r in which I think they had about 60 of them because my package said "13 of 60". I like the fact that they buy the latest kits and engines in the bulk and transfer the savings to the customer.
