Default Lola Body Shells

Hi just wondering do LOLA body shells slow your car down as more downforce acts on it?

thanks

No way what so ever. If you run a track layout with a 14sec lap you can be guaranteed to be running the same lap at around 12sec with a Lola body.

I got a question 4 anyone who has been running Lola VDS shells on their 200mm machine, how do they work w/rubber tires? I know they are meant for use w/foams becsuse of the massive downforce, but i was interested if they even worked w/rubber tires. Or does it make the handling completely screwy? If it does, I'll just stick to the good ol' Stratus and Stratus 2.1....

I feel it would be almost too much for rubbers, but you never know. I haven;t even thought abotu trying a lola untill a few days ago.

who makes the 200mm lola shell?? maybe ill buy it and play with some rubbers, maybe those cheapass radials that you see could be put to good use since once the downforce takes full effect and the tires get sucked down more traction will happen. just a thought.

though i dont see how it would be worse on rubbers then foams, after all foams are softer and will cave easier

I know Yokomo Makes a Lola shell, actually that was the first 1/10th scale 200mm Lola body I seen on the maket. It came with the Yokomo Gt-4R, but now it Comes like a regular body but without decals!

Guys, lola type body shells will only work if you have floating type rear body mounts like the ones found on 1/8th scale cars.

The downforce generated by the lola shells on normal type body mounts will transfer the force directly to the chassis and hence to the shocks... This changes the suspension geometry of the car on a high speed track...

The floating type rear body mount transfers all the downforce generated by the lola bodyshell to the rear wheel bearing hubs and to the rear wheels of the car bypassing the shocks. In all cases, whatever the amount of downforce created will not compress the rear shocks of the car when the lola bodyshell is mounted on a floating type of rear body mount.
