Default Arson suspected in TSRCAR fire

HAMILTON - A fire - which officials suspect was arson - destroyed a local park's grandstand early Saturday.

The blaze, reported at 2 a.m., destroyed a grandstand in Joyce Park, a city park at 45 Forest Lake Lane. A large covered viewing structure next to the grandstand also was scorched. The preliminary loss estimate was $10,000.

Deputy Fire Chief Pete Trauthwein said the cause of the fire was suspicious and remained under investigation.

darn vandals

hopefully you can get that fixed up before the May MWS race

what's my best option for a room close to the track? Holiday Inn Express is already booked as the the Extended Stay. If I recall correctly the Econolodge is kinda dumpy.... but they have openings

It looks as though the scoring tower and tech booth were destroyed. They have a Timing Tower where all the computer and scoring stuff is located... right at the start/finish line. It is not attached to the drivers stand nor a grandstand.

The drivers stand is the closest stand in this pic- the scoring tower is the farthest away and sticks out farther in the picture... looks like it has windows.....

another pic here.....

in-between the drivers stand and timing tower is/was the tech booth...

I'm not sure who's responsibility it is to pay to rebuild the structures, or if they had insurance, but JACO will donate money to the club if it is needed. Just PM me with contact info and details.

Thanks Jack, that is very admirable. There will be a meeting this week to determine what future plans are required.

What worries me is, if they build a new one will someone just burn it down again.

Thank you everyone for the offered support. To rebuild the existing structure would cost (just an estimate) $25,000 with labor donated and take months of weekends to complete. We're looking at some alternatives, but we have to figure out the cost of everything. We even have to have an electrician out to see how far underground the wiring damage goes. The only luck part was the drivers stand suffered only cosmetic damage, otherwise we'd be down for quite a while. As we find out more, we'll keep our site updated, www.TSRCAR.com
Thx

Sorry to hear about the fire. Looks like a great track. I like the website garage section telling people what to bring along with who's who for parts and most importantly downloadable set-ups for various cars.

Think of it positively. You guys are getting a new timing tower!
I hope it doesn't take too long for that to happen.

Cheers.

If the track cant come up with the money,or have a short fall of cash at the end.

I Think some of the racers that have raced at this track would have no problem helping out with a donation no matter the size of HELP !

If this helps I'm good for $100 I know it's not much but with all the racers it's got to help. Let me know and it's on it's way.

My last race there was 2003 & 2004 and it was a BLAST!

That is a great looking facility. Its a shame that someone would want to destroy that intentionally.
Living here in So Ca. we can only hope to have a track like that.
Our tracks for on-road are few and far between, and then to hear that someone would destroy your track, is very sad.
Good luck with your rebuild, and please post some pics when you are up and running again.

For that much money why don't you look at getting a 8'x12' trailer or something. You can get a pretty darn nice brand new aluminum trailer for $3000. Make your customizations for another $1000 and you're set.

You could leave the trailer there or haul it away each week. Just hook into the permanent power when you arrive.

That is something we are investigating....we may be somewhat restricted depending on the City Park requirments.
