Black Pixy or STS RS3
Which is better, the Black Pixy or the STS RS3? The Black Pixy I might get is the ROAR legal one.
|
the sts rs3 is roar/ifmar legal also.
http://www.teamcrc.com/inventory2003/stsrs3.htm i have the sts12 3 port turbo - i absolutley love this motor - not a single prob thru 2 gal of 30/10 and the power band this motor pulls is just beautiful. predictable, tunable and i have beat most everybody at the parking lot (siros, tc3s, even a sonic) in a flat out street drag. i run the ofna ob4 slimline-many upgrades. for the $$ and performance - STS will be my motor of choice! - i'm getting the rs5 next. |
Anybody else on this forum runing the STS RS3? I will like to know the performance of this engine.

But, which engine is better in terms of performance and durability, and ease to maintain and tune.

I also have been wanting to find out more
about the PIXY Black motor with regards to its power and durability. Has anybody used this motor? (Whether .12 or .21... Any feedbacks would be greatly appreciated.. I have always wondered why they a more pricey than the other motors in the market and have always wanted to find out if their price is backed up by performance.? I dont think people would mind paying more for a motor for as long as you get what you pay for. But I wonder if this is another motor that is Over Rated.? |
well, i don't have a lot experience with motors other than my sts12 - but the as for durability and longeviety u cant' go wrong with sts engines. look, my sts12 puts out 1.35hp from the stock 3 port- and with the turbo head it is just a great motor and for the price (100$ on ebay!) pleez!
plus i can speak DIRECTLY with guys that manufacture these motors thru the CRC forum - now that's what i call product support. the rs3 is a hand-modded 3 port roar legal that kicks out 1.5hp for 125$. go ahead and pay 200-240$ + for ur jp, collaris, rbs, etc. - even stock - these sts engines can stick it to any engine out there. spreading the word on STS.... |
Where ar eyou getting the RS3 for $125?
CRC sells them for $175.... |
So you are saying the STS RS3 can keep up with the Pixy? Also, I heard that once you get the engine, you have to take it apart and clean it or something for the RS3, is this true?
|
This is true for every engine.
Every new nitro engine (no matter who manufactured it) should be taken apart and clean out, to remove any residue, foreign objects or contaminents left over from manufaturing process. Yes, the processes have been greatly improved over the years, but I would never spend that kind of money on a new engine without taken the small amount of time and energy to insure it will run to its maximum without issues. |
So can the RS3 keep up with a Pixy?
