MEGA ZX21 Broken Crank!!!! (New engine)

My buddy and I have the same engine and he just broke his crank on his BRAND NEW ZX 21 engine!! Ok now I am scared to say the least. He has owned alot of engines and never had this happen. He broke in the engine with roughly 10 tanks of fuel using the heat cycle method. It happended in the A main. He was only temping at round 210-220. He was running 30% nitro, non-shimmed. Now the specs call for 25%. Could the 30% nitro have caused this? Does this engines low price match is quality? Is this a common accurance with these engines? Should I have bought a Nova based engine? I hope the answers to these questions are no. Oh boy this scares me... :weird:

I would have shimmed that engine being that you use 30%. Where on the crankshaft did it break :weird: Conrod?

Well if you should have any questions you will want to call the guys at Serpent USA and they will help you reslove the problem. Those engines are very good and only break if over reving happens of reving the engine while still cold.. If there is a recall or the engine is one of the originals you may want to call them also. You might want to know where you bought the engine.... Just a thought.

Well here is what Serpent said. Good customer service...

"This the first time we have heard of the new DSII crankshaft breaking.
We are fairly certain this is an isolated case. Please have your friend
send his complete engine with all broken parts and pieces to us. It will
be examined by our technicians to try and determine what caused this to
happen.

Send the engine to:

Serpent USA
2834 NW 79 Avenue
Doral, FL 33122
