Engine choice again

Thank you for everyone who has replied and helped me narrow engine choice down.

I am currently run on two tracks in Melbourne. One track they allow turbo engines, and the other no turbo engines allowed.
Can people tell if I buy the:

JP Modified - Novarossi T5S1 5 Ports .12 Turbo Engine ($350.00)

1).Can I buy something so I can modify so it will not use the turbo on the other track. I have heard rumors about a turbo button that turns it or off.
2). If it is a good engine or not?

I am currently running a JP Black Novarossi S1. And I have about 1/2 year experience in nitro.

Thanks for you help

Hi ttektek,

First, the simple fix:

What you can do is buy a Non-Turbo Head Button which
accomodates the regular Glow Plug..

Now for the part that sucks:

It is safe to assume that the other track follows sanctioned
guidelines which may be the reason for them not allowing Turbo
Plugs. Having said that, please note that the 5 Port motors
are Non-Legal motors which may likewise not be permitted
to be used on that same track, regardless of it having a
Non-Turbo Button. Furthermore, this is also the same reason
why the 5 port motors normally come with a Turbo Button to
begin with, when purchased Brand New.

But yes, the JP Modified - Novarossi T5S1 5 Ports .12
Turbo Engine is a good motor. Although, I personally think
the price you have for it is too much..

Hope this helps :)

Why not buy the standard 3-port non turbo Novarossi S3 and then purchase a turbo button and head for it.

If tuned correctly a 3-port Turbo is just as fast as a 5-port Turbo.

Regardless of the number of ports in an engine there are still only 3 main ports and the exhaust port. The other ports only help to flow the mixture to the desired point in the combustion chamber.

I agree too 3port = 5port
Try to get RB 3port With turbo head... same as a Nova5port when tuned properly... is cheap and long lasting..
Btw anybody got an RS42 Fan site that have mod info and TIps for da car ?
HPI USA used to have 2 ... :( :flaming:

i like the sirio engines for 2 reasons they are fast and cheap

they are availble in a legal 3 port and outlaw 5 port turbo

i have a modded sirio 3 port and it is extremely fast

i have noticed even the out the box engines are very fast

soon i will be getting the outlaw 5 port

but i will be getting a regular plug button for it though i dont want to spend 7 or 8$ for a glowplug
