Ipanema Tires are the very best tires I've used in GT racing. Check out their website www.ipanemasports.com there you can look for dealers and hobby shops that carry the line.

These are the ones I'm talking about:

Here you can buy them:

Default DM-1 Spec RTR on the way...

Greets all,

I have a new DM-1 Spec RTR on the way and I'm pretty excited.

Other than breaking in the motor properly, is there anything else that is a "must do" ???

Right now, its just going to be a parking lot play toy. But, hopefully we can get a class going this summer.

And, any advice on breaking it in at 5000ft?

Thanks in advance.

The only thing that I would do as a must is the bottom suspension mounts in aluminum. There are several companies with these like maxvelocityracing.com.

The part that I'm tal;king about is the first one you see on this link:

http://maxvelocityracing.com/Servo.aspx

Other than that the car is great. This will only make the car more durable. You will need one for the front and one for the rear.

Way Cool!!!
Maybe we can get a few more of these out and running. I agree on the aluminum mounts, even before you run the car the first time. I purchase some Ipanema tires is several duro's based on what the guys in Lincoln were running.

We can talk at the club meeting on the 11th!!

Default DM1 Spec at High Altitude!

Good to hear another racer has purchased this highly reliable and sturdy car!
Take your time running the engine in, if you can for initial startup heat the engine with a hair dryer before you fire it up. It'll start easier. Though you can use the pull start, but if you can afford a bump starter box, the whole starting experince will be easier.
The options that I have installed on mycar are:
1. Lower suspension mount - aluminum from YBslowinc.com
2. Ofna optional steel disk brake rotor and semi-metallic pads
3. Inpanema, and AlphaRC belted racing slicks

My DM1 Spec Pro car came race ready from the factory, all screws and bolts had been secured with a thread locker.

Yeah, total impulse purchase.
Colpar West had an IGT2 in stock, but something kept pulling me to the OFNA.

I will get those suspension mounts on the way. What about glow plugs? MC8s work fine? And, what is a good % fuel to run up here?

Ybslow for the mounts. Plugs would work just fine. I ran 20% Byrons in the Fource 28 last year, but the 16 RTR would work as it has more oil if your new to nitro. Get a starter box, as the pull start is a little on the touchy side.

I have the Mercedes body still on the car, but have one of the Proto Form bodies that I need to get painted.

Mark

What should I be looking for in a Starter Box?

I've only used a Roto-Start on my old Revo.

The body posts hole should be the same.
I did the upright shock upgrade on my DM1 and it improved the cars handling dramatically.
It emilinated all of the body roll

Exclamation CF pull start only chassis?

Is the DM-1 carbon fiber chassis for pull start engines only? It has 2 metal plates on the chassis that are over 3mm high and is making it impossible for the starter box to touch the flywheel.
