Exclamation Fuel not getting to the carb

Okay I have a RS4 3 rtr that I bought off the internet. For some reason I can't get the fuel to move up the line. I checked it for cracks or leaks or anything. I don't know what to do now. Can anybody here help me?

put your finger over the stinger and try to start it.

with the glow plug removed.... is there any resistance when you turn the piston past TDC?

is this a new or used purchase?

resistance is good.

you should be able to start it if you can get that fuel flowing..... open the high end needle 1 turn and put your finger over the stinger when you turn it over. you should see fuel flowing pretty quickly. once you see that fuel get to the carb, attach the glow ignitor and hang on

This is a used one. I set all the stuff back to factory settings. I'll try what you said tomorrow morning it's too late to do that now. It's 11:23 here.

its possible the fuel inlet on the carb isnt properly aligned with the high speed needle inlet. That can keep fuel out of the carb for sure

If you haven't already, check that the metal nipple coming off the tank is secured properly. I have had mine come loose.

Pull the pressure line off from the exhaust pipe. Make sure it's clean, then gently blow on the line at first. You should immediately see fuel flow. If not, blow a little harder. If still nothing then it sounds like you've got a pressure leak. Check the condition of the seal on the fuel tank lid. When you blow, can you hear escaping air?

You have to loosen the high speed needle housing, then i used to stick a small safety pin in the fuel inlet to keep them aligned while i tightened the high speed needle housing again. Havent had that since back in the day with plastic fuel inlets on the old O.S. carbs, but it is possible.

you don't need to have the holes aligned from the carb inlet to the needle housing on any engines I've seen.... there is a recessed area machined all the way around the hole in the housing.

it's just like a banjo fitting on a real car carbureator.

On the very early OS CV engines (late 90's i guess) i had both .12 and .15 versions with plastic inlets that were not banjo fittings, and i found that more than once they shifted and had this problem. If it does have a banjo style inlet then you are correct, this isnt the problem.

I can only get fuel to flow when I blow on the pressure line. What does that mean?
