Lightbulb NEW! 1/8TH ON-ROAD P909 by PROTOform

http://www.prolineracing.com/p-654-p909.aspx

Well - the P909 body is finally ready to race!

I failed to include in the body's description that the P909 was submitted to EFRA before the annual homologation deadline. I assume it will be approved. It's also been sent to ROAR.

Aero performance was the absolute and primary goal with this design - but where it was possible - (where it wouldn't have any negative effect) I included a few styling cues from that perenial bridesmaid 1:1 car - the Peugeot P908 LM racer. Ya - I know - it's a stretch - but that's the nature of the beast these days.

We still include body (side) stiffeners with each body. Question: Do you guys use them? I know they are not legal in Europe. Not sure of the reasons.

They go into full production on monday the 19th of Jan. Suggested retail is $35 (unlike the rumours out there) and street price will probably end up being a few bucks below that.

Best wishes in the New Year to you all!

Nice looking body! Who will be running it at the winternats?

Stiffeners? In my case, they're additional cushion from impact with the boards.

Stiffeners were used to make the body wider for better aerodynamics and as most bodies do not come with stiffeners then the stiffener was no part of the homologation and so illigal.....
The new trick to stiffen the body were constructions from piano wire or carbon plates which was not safe if a car hits a person and so last year they decided that stiffeners could be used again.

For me, I do not use them, for sure with the 0.040 thickness. I loved the Shadow, I wonder how this one will drive....

I've got a couple of projects to complete them I'm working full bore on a new 200mm sedan body. You're so right - the Protoform 3.1 Stratus has remained competitive fo a very long time - much longer than I could've ever predicted. There appears to be a few other contenders of late so it's definitely time to "turn up the wick" a bit. I guarantee you the next 200mm body will not look boring at all - regardless of how it performs. It's from a completely "clean sheet".

Thanks for asking.

Hi Dale.

Congrats on the new P909. It looks very nice.

One question about the paint job. It looks as if it is painted on the outside to achieve the non-gloss / mat effect. Is this the case?

VERY NICE!
Yes I use the stiffeners.
I really wish you sold the mounting hardware separately!

I do use stiffeners. I usually make my own though. I don't like the ones that come with most bodies. Yours are better than some but I still like mine better.

With regards to a new 200mm car believe me when I tell you guys I have encouraged Dale to "take the gloves off" and make the best body he possibly can. I don't talk to Dale enough but I always encourage him to push himself to the limits and make the best handling bodies he can possibly come up with. I should get some P909 bodies very soon.
