Best bang for the buck .12

Try the new Orion CRF 12.
I picked up one about 2 weeks ago, and it runs great.
I dropped it in a Mugen MTX3. For the price of about $260.00, it is an amazing motor.

STS D12X is a screamer for the price. Its hard to beat STS when it comes to bang for the buck.

Its hard to find the D12X outlaw , but these guys have them in stock and if you mention rctech theyll give you a discount price or free shipping.

Ill be running a d12x as soon as my d3r dies out. Also if you want more power. They also sell an A.I modified D12X , its so fast its scary.

I picked up my sts d3r for 130$. It's a very good engine so far. I haven't had much running time with mine -- but so far so good.

Another good choice is an RB v12 3 port. I loved mine. good power and long lasting. Ace has them for 199$

Mega ZX12 is still probably the best bang for the buck. You can get the combo with the pipe for $220 at winners circle www.gasrccar.com

For a couple more bucks you can get the palmaris profi .12 as well! Very fast motor.

many options available for best bang on the dollar. like you said, the O.S, and the ZX12. great engines, easy to tune. great speed for how much youre paying. give either one of them a shot, but i think youll like the zx12 by mega. amazing bottom and great top end. give it a shot!

motor

I have a new rb x12 that i'm just breaking in right now. But where i plan to race everyone has outlaw 5 ports and i just wanna be just as fast as everyone. The track is made for 1/8 scale so i could use the extra power of a 5 port. So i guess i'm looking for something faster than my 3port x12 but not quite JP mod prices. The outlaw sts is looking real good. Does anyone know how the suggested motors (os tz 5port,sts 5port,mega,orion crf,rex lr3,nova s5) compare to my x12 3port?

thanks for all the help

Get the OS TZ 3p. you won't regret it. It was $180 at rc-toro.

I asked that question on the sts forum and didn't get a clear reply. After trying the d3r here's my answer to the zx12 mega v.s sts d3r

The x12 is a screamer of an engine. It winds and i have no problems seeing that engine hit 35000+ rpm. At the track 50% of the guys run the zx12.

My D3r is not a screamer put a super torque engine. I guess it winds around 28000 - 32000 rpm. At first i thought i had made a big mistake on buying it. This thing i thought had no top end. On the sts forum everyone was saying to gear up and don't worry -- the d3r will pull . They where right. On my G4 I went from 19th to 20th and 24 to 25 on second gear. My RB v12 had problems with that setup. To say the least, i can keep up and i'm just as fast as any Zx12 on the track.

The only odd thing that i have to get used to is the sound. My rb v12 screamed and on the back straight, you know you where moving !!! With the d3r, the rpm's are so low -- you have the impression you're not moving but it's just an impression. I'm going as fast or even faster than before -- it's just an odd feeling.

Now the question is -- how's the endurance on this motor. I have not had the engine long enough to say anything about that.

One guy at the track kept pestering me about the d3r ( don't buy that - it's crap, buy my JP modified for 500$ canadian, it's made in taiwan, i know a guy who knows the guy who makes them and...... etc... I guess you know what people can say). He was pretty quiet about the engine after the race ;)
