once a kit or part is discontinued is it possible to get the part still?

yes but it depends on what it is, there are tons of extra discontinued parts, tower has some of them

it is a tamiya tg10r kit

you will just have to search around for parts on different websites, maybe make a few calls

Bumm trust me m8 you don't want to get yourself into the discontinued parts nightmare unless you are willing to buy 3 kits or so and shiteloads of spares right away before you cannot find any parts. The TG10R is OK but it is old and cannot compete with the newer models. That is why it is being phased out...
