in japan, the active hobby has McLaren and prosche availabe for 1/8 onroad and we do order them through online. I am so surprised that you do not know in japan. The recent novarossi cup in japan also had the non-lolar class and majority i saw they raced the Mclaren............

Speedy -
There are approx. 20 circuits or so in each prefecture in Japan, even quite a few in Oosaka and Kyouto but here in Tokyo there are TWO tracks - both on the tops of roofs!!! Needless to say nitro is out of fashion here as it is unofficially banned in parks and there is nowhere to run them (in Tokyo, at least...).
I just do my RC shopping in Akihabara, not online...
But thanks for the link!!

1st...None of the HPI Super Nitro Class body will fit the current 1/8th on road car, not wide enough and not long enough...
2nd....Serpent did make the McLaren GT body that is for 1/8th car...or you can get the POWER RACING one...they are the same type of body...and I think those the only NON LOLA (LeMan) body for 1/8th....
Oh...if you want, you can try 1/8th MONSTER TRUCK body too...it will fit, just like stupid....LOL.

Now I know where I stand in terms of bodies. Both the McLarens are great for me...

1/8 bodies not Lola type
Serpent still makes the type of body you want. (#1753 is Porsche 911GT1 and #1751 is Mclaren) Local Hobby Stores in Japan can order them for you.
If you want to run your 1/8 MRX-4R, there is a great track about 1 hour from Tokyo. Its called Boss Speed. Every month they have races there and in the Sportsman class they run these bodies, too. In Japan they call them "closed" bodies. (go figure)
Go to this link if you want to see some 1/8 closed bodies running at Boss Speed.

How does the Audi R8 by Parma stack up to the Lola, it looks similar with a little more style.

Cheers for the info guys, I will get a Lola for racing/as you said Hav maybe, just maybe it will grow on me
R&TRacer, where is Boss Speed? The closest decent track I know is the Hiratsuka city Shounan Speedway ( in 神奈川県/ 湘南 )...Where is Boss Speed?? BTW I am living in Kokubunji-shi/Koganei-shi, Tokyo...There is some track in Kawagoe, 30min from me, but I have not been there yet...
Rollover I would like to know the answer to that Q as well...
I hear that the Porsche Serpent 962 MS Group C V2 body ( http://ashfordhobby.com/prod530.htm ) also claims to have pretty sweet downforce, and that style looks great!
Bests

Boss Speed is about half the distance you drive to get to Shounan.
Here's the address
1147,Sumida aza-umesawa,Aikawa-cho,
Aikou-gun,Kanagawa JAPAN
TEL 0462-86-9177
Here are a few maps. You basically go South on 16 from Hachioji and take 129 when it splits off 16. After you get on 129 about 3 km down the road there will be an overpass. Don't go over but exit onto 54. Turn rt. and folllow it as it snakes along until you cross the Sagami river. After the river, the road climbs into the foothills. Look at the close up map I sent to find a real small, hard to find sign that marks the turn off. (next to the temple mark).
You can see the track in the closeup map I attached next to the address 1148. (Ignore the Goal mark in this map, I can't place it any closer to the actual spot)

No Problem.
The fee to practice on the track is 3900 JPY (plus tax). They are open from 9:30 to 5:30 for 1/8 scale cars. They are open pretty much every day except major holidays like New Years. Night practice are for 1/10th only and that goes 6:00pm to 10:00pm @ 2000 JPY.
The guys who race there are fast. 280 meter course in 17.5 seconds would be an average speed. Alot of sponsored drivers. And since its just up the road from Atsugi you see a lot of Kyosho design engineers there.
Cheers.
