Here’s a very brief synopsis of current news, activities and plans from last night's Club Meeting:

Club Swag

I'm working with a local supplier who is setting up our Club logo for embroidery purposes. When the prototypes are approved, we'll have the following swag available for purchase:

Golf Shirt: Black in colour with red side panels that are contrasted with white piping. Our logo will incorporate the red and white colours embroidered on the black background of the shirt.

Baseball Cap: Black with embroidered logo

Melton Leather Jacket: Black with red leather sleeves and trim, plus logo

All prices forthcoming

Promotions / Special Events

Great Canadian Bean Company Shootout ~ more details forthcoming
Swayze RC Speed Shop 2007 Nitro Touring Championship ~ details have been posted

Track Updates / Improvements

Drivers stand to be rebuilt due to November storm damage ~ as soon as the snow clears
New half width double height steel carts courtesy of Bill McLean ~ 1 delivered to date
40 metre long concrete barrier to be installed along south property line separating the main straight from the gymnastics facility next door. Initiated for sound attenuation but will serve as an excellent safety barrier eliminating the constant manhandling of numerous wooden barriers. ~ I may require some local volunteer assistance for snow removal as these barriers will be installed within 2 weeks.
Further sound system improvements to allow for full automated JLaps operation with minimal race director involvement at Club races. Addition of 2 more tripod speakers and new quality drivers stand speakers planned. ~ quotes to be requisitioned
Installation of drivers stand video monitor. ~ we have the monitor, cabling and installation required
Additional asphalt sealer to be applied. I will request a quote to widen turn 9 (the hump), widen turn 10 exit through turn 11 and to seal pit row.
The permanent installation of surplus 2x12 boards along the north property line. (similar to the main straight boards) ~ landowner permission required.

I'll upload photos of the new swag as soon as they're ready. We'll need to schedule a number of workparties in order to achieve our track improvement plans, perhaps early/mid April, weather permitting. In addition the above list, pressure washing and track barrier maintenance is required.

All in all, 2007 will be another awesome year of racing in Hamilton, Ontario

Cheers,

Gary Swayze

Our drivers stand is ready for next Saturday's action. We'll schedule a paint party in the near future to pretty it up to it's former glory. Thanks to all of you who assisted yesterday!

FYI

I have proposed a modified barrier system that will feature reduced setup time, reduced setup complexity and improved sight lines from the drivers stand. I'd be happy to discuss the new concept with any of you who didn't make yesterday's work party. We'll probably implement the new system in phases once the racing season gets underway. There will be a number of workparties required to make the new hardware.

We are investigating the possiblity of re-sealing the track again this spring subject to consultation with our sealing contractor. Should we proceed, 2 areas will be widened and pit row will be sealed as part of the plan. No schedule has been set but I expect that this will occur just in advance of the Can-Am Challenge / RC Pro Series on May 26-27.

Thanks,

Gary
