Ontario 1/8 Club Race No. 7 Weather Update:

We've had some shower activity occur at about 7:30am this morning. There is no rain coming down as I write this. The radar would seem to indicate that the heaviest rain has moved on and the storm front is moving through quite rapidly. We'll set the track up for racing if sufficient drivers show up (8-10 8th Scale minimum). At the very least, we'll setup the drivers stand, lay down some traction compound and get some practice time in without any barriers.

Thanks,

Gary Swayze

Well, the weather finally had to spoil the party! We cancelled racing yesterday but those who made the trip got in some good barrier free practice. The drivers stand was in place with a 45 litre mix of traction compound laid down for some grip. Thanks to all of you who assisted in contributing to the cost of the traction mixture! Bill, thanks for making the trip from north west of London and delivering the methanol. If I'm not mistaken, some drivers got in 75 plus laps before the afternoon showers put a final end to the fun. Steve Jackson, Lou Vanderwey, Dave Presnail, Rob Dugal, Corey Delong, Kuniharu Ujima, Chris Bramford, Nicholas Martin, Michael Tran, Howard Cho, Patrick Chan, Allan Lai, Jerry Man and myself all managed to get some track time. Daniel and David Zucchet made the trip but I don't recall if they got their racing gear setup. Thanks to all of you for coming out and taking a chance on the really poor weather. John Rabbito and Massimo Fantozzi stopped by and hung out for a while. Did anyone manage to pass on a good dose of 8th scale fever to John Rabbito? John and Massimo will be spectating next weekend so there's another chance for someone to pass on the fever or perhaps the GT (guilt trip) to Mr. Rabbito

See you guys next weekend at the charity race.

Thanks,

Gary Swayze

Default St. Alban's Charity Race

You couldn't have asked for a better day of racing. The weather was excellent, the track was awesome and the attendance was far greater than I had expected. 1 heat each of 1/10 Open and 5th Scale, 3 heats of sedan and 2 heats of 8th Scale with many regular 8th Scale cars absent from yesterday's show. 3 qualifiers and half hour A Mains make for a very long day indeed. Thanks to all of you who committed to sticking around for track tear down. That kind of assistance is what's required to maintain the foundation of this Club. We can all live in hope that this extra assistance wasn't a one off flash in the pan!

Hugh's registration duties and involvement with race control made for a more relaxed day for me. Steve and Patrick, thank you for the race control assistance! Dave, Jordan and Hugh, thank you for starting the mains.

My thank you as well to Jordan Krupp, John Elliot, Ron Prinzen, Steve Jackson and Ty Grant for coming out on Saturday and setting up the track. That sure made for a more relaxed day of racing yesterday.

Corey and I were once again tradin' paint in the 1/8 Open B Main. That's awesome to have a very closely matched competitor to race with. It's also great to gain the experience running in such close quarters. Chuck McKinley was there with us at one point in time. He must have damaged his car as he's usually faster. I had 3rd place all wrapped up until a lose carb (were's the Loctite?) shut the engine down on my last lap. I believe that I had my best race run ever at the home track. Now it's time for me to break into the 20 second club!

There are 2 more opportunities for everyone to improve their best qualifiers and races: Saturday, September 23 and Saturday, October 14. This coming weekend will be a prime opportunity to improve as September has always been an excellent month for track conditions.

Yesterday's results have been uploaded:

http://www.jlapracemanager.com/JL_Results.aspx

Hope to see many of you next weekend!

Gary,
It was a blast. Had a great time racing. Only disappointment was that someone swiped the XXX Main "How to Paint" video door prize that I was hoping to win...... Oh Well, in any event it was great racing,

Thanks,
Jim Wheeler

Thanks to all who helped make this event happen including the Saturday crew and all those who stayed Sunday evening. Also thanks to Gary and Hugh for their race directing,I was blown away when i drove in a 9am to see all those tents. All I could think was WOW, I did not expect to see 58 entries. Then to run 3 qualifiers and 30minute Amains in one day -hats off to you guys.

As always had a blast.

Jordan your welcome, I guess I had too much power for that side belt. LOL

Jim Glad you had a good time and hope you come back again.

The track is 40% dry as of this writing. The clouds are light and the sun is in sight. Let's get this race in! Perhaps we'll setup fewer barriers than usual depending on the number of volunteers.

Today's race will proceed as planned!

That was a FAST A Main. The Top Three Broke Howard Cho's A Main Laps Record!

New Record:
1st Lou Vanderway 87 30.01211
2nd John Elliot 87 30.01951
3rd Mike Burr 86 30.16642
4th Howard Cho 86 30.18564 Previous Record.

You should hear the excuses why we didn't run 88 or 89 Laps.
