yes a case is a good idea, you would not believe how much your radio gets vibrated and banged around when its being transported.
real experience, I was traveling to a model boat racing nationals and it was an 8 1/2 hour drive. I took 8 boats with me. by the time I got there 7 of 8 radios and recievers were out of tune so bad they were unusable for the event. I had to swap one radio into every boat during the event and between heats. it really sucked. Today however they are making the radios more robust so its not as much of an issue. |
....still would like to keep that " brand new" look especially for an expensive radio transmitter.
Punisher: Tower Hobbies doesn't have it in their website anymore. thanks. smitty & motorman: ......will go to Home Depot tomorrow.....thanks guys!!!! |
May I suggest Tambok that you look at one that has the foam inside cut into little squares. That way you can pull out pieces to form to the shape of your radio without having to cut the foam.
I have the one Punisher has and you have to cut the foam if you want to form fit the radio. |
Check into places that sell high dollar two way radios, CB radios, and other equipment.
I know my dad has a couple really nice cases for the racing radios. Two of which have the foam blocks that were mentioned earlier. Just pick out the ones you need to remove to fit the radio. Bada-bing... and you have your case. -Troy |

hmmmm. can't find it at Home Depot....I will check out the other branches...........are these supposed to be in the TOOLS section? or the STORAGE section?

Tambok - I have almost the same case, except that mine has a hunting scene on the front. . . I keep my Orion transponder, an extra set of batteries (in a little plastic box) and all my crystals. . .it's perfect for all that!
I know that Cen made a box that was REALLY nice (about the only nice thing they make/sell) - you had to pull the antenna, but that's not a big deal usually. Ask your LHS. They are aluminum and I KNOW that they are durable. . .I ran mine over with a loaded double jet ski trailer. . . (nobody told me that they had left it there. . .) and NO damage to the radio. |
