Default Building Diff

Did everyone glue the rubber o-ring in place in the rear dif per the instructions? This just seems weird to me since you don't do it in 1/8th scale off-road. Also there is a lot of play in the out-drives. Did everyone shim out the play?

Thanks,
Tim

I dont know if everyone does this, but I leave the play in there. My main shaft and the middle shaft also have somewhat of a play. I do this so that the whole transmission runs smoothly and that if I a belt is positioned wrong by a small length, those degrees of freedom will let it run as it should. That is my own understanding.

Default RRR outdrive PLAY

I just finished putting together a RRR evo WC.......and I had the same problem with play in a few of the outdrives.......and I also shimmed them to remove this play as I had always done with other kits.......until someone who has more knowledge than I with the k-CAR pointed out tht there are 2 ways to put on the BLUE HEX DRIVES....on the flat side of the hex or the pointed side of the hex.....take ur wheel of and look at it!!!!ur gonna say ooohhhhhh...I missed it in the instruction manual to!!.....depending on which hole u choose 1 will cause play and the other will take it away!!!!no need for shims at all...used 8 shims in my G4..4 shims in my NT1..Both good cars ..but I think Kyosho has got this thing figured out!!....this is actually the 1st kit tht I hav built wit almost no slop anywhere!!!very impressed

No I didnt glue my o rings in......I could see why they would want u to.....has some side to side play there and before u sandwich the 2 halves they could prob come out.....but It seemed to me tht once u put them together they shold stay in place!!I havent ran car yet,,but I hav seen no signs of leaking!!

So the Pre-worlds winner is the V-One. Does anybody know what engine Daniele Ielasi was using? It was a CRF or a Sirio?

I would bet it was an IDM engine.

Yes you should, but kyosho thrust bearings are one of the best in the market, you probably won't have problems with that and should last a long time you take good care of them.

I beleive it's possible if you use the V-One S parts, but in the original RRR parts probably will not fit.
V-One S3 uses GRX15 engine, that has a side exhaust and a pull start.

I have a question for anyone. What is the hot gearing choice (pinion and spur) right now with the JL .12 motor and the 2mm split pulley. Medium to large track with tires around 62mm rear / 60mm front. thanks for the input.

Tony, you should be using the 60 or 61 first gear spur, on second gear I tried the 55 and the 56, the 56 is better, the 55 wont let the engine reach top RPMs at CP, the straight is not long enough. THe 55 works good the GLARC track, with the longer straight. As far as pinions, I dont know the tooth count, but Im using the blue first gear and the black second.
