Hi!
I got an old Mega SX-21 Evo1 and havent been used for some years.. i wonder how to clean it? i think that needs to be done?

Neat thing about old 2 strokes, no moving parts in the valve train. Take it apart, soak in your favorite solvent, and rebuild. You may need to replace a gasket or two. If you can't find the right gasket, high temp liquid gasket works great. Good luck, it's a real pleasure to bring an old motor back to life...

but i dont know if its wurth it.. i mean. last time when the engine was on my father run it in.. or how to say

the engine has gone on like 6-7 tanks no more..

Its a good idea to probably do it just to check it. If it hasnt been run in awhile it could have some rust. A cleaning of it will ensure this doesnt run around in the chamber once you restart it.

Id also suggest running the car rich for a little bit...then start to lean the motor for power in 1/8th incriments each tank.

You might even want to do the cyrul method , same website different article. He explains how he tunes his motor at the track each time.

i'm following the guide now.. but i dont know what to clean with? and what kind of oil to use to the parts when i assembly again.

im taking photos all the time so i can see how it was assembled
i dont know if i need to take the centax clutch apart?? how can i clean that?

I clean the internals and externals with denatured alcohol.
When I reassemble the engine, I use after-run oil to lubricate all the parts.

Ok, i will use 95% denaturated etanol to clean the parts with..
but i dont know what to lubricate the parts with.. i dont have any after run oil. Is it possible to use WD-40? http://www.wd40.com/Brands/wd40.cfm

wd-40 will work. After-run oil is better since it will stay a little longer and absorbs water. WD just displaces it.

I clean my motors with polish. Well at least the piston top , this gets the gummed up material off. I also go ahead and polish the piston sleeve exterior. This is normally tarnished from the fuel.

Then I check my crank and clean the exterior counterweight area if its bad.

Once it looks all brand new. I oil it up and reinstall. You must make sure everything goes back together correctly.

Make note of everything when uninstalling it. Or you motor wont work right and could blow or not even turn over correctly.

WD-40 is not recommended if your crank has silicon/epoxy filling in it. It can separate silicon/epoxy from the crank

Marvel Mystery Oil is what a lot of companies are bottling up as after run oil and selling it for $8- $10 for a tiny 2oz. bottle. You can get MMO for $5 for about 16- 20oz.

I dont think its filled with epoxy.. the engine is and old Mega SX-21 EV1

a friend to me are gonna help me cleaning the engine..
i didnt get the carburettor off.. it was stuck.

im gonna replace the clutch shoe also.. to a better version. "yellow" to the centax.

I have been known to take the engine to my sink disasembled and wash it with a toothbrush and dish soap. It works good. Make sure not to get anything in the bearings, get all the water out with compressed air, and oil everything heavily with some Marvel when you put it back together. If you use this tecnique and your motor rusts, I am not responsible. You need to make sure to get all the water out.

How often do you suppose to clean your motor if you race a few times.
