How much play should be in the HPI RS4 3 TypeSS 2 speed tranny?

Like the title says, how much play should be in the tranny? Right now I've got about 1/16th of an inch front to rear movement. Thanks in advanced.

Gear Mesh?

Nayathedingo;

Are you talking about "Gear Lash"? If so the the answer is as little as possible without binding. Put a small strip of paper between the gears to set the lash. Hold the gears snugly together and tighten the engine screws. Pull the paper strip out and there should just barely be a minimum of free play in the gears. Check it in several places around the spur gear and correct if needed. Once you figure out the correct setting you can do it without the paper strip.

no, not gear mesh. The actual movement of the whole assembly as well the two gears moving inside the housing. From front to rear.

Sloppy HPI Nitro 3 SS

HPI's are known well for their slop in the assemblies. CRC & others makes thin shims that you can use to remove the slop. Had to do it in my HPI Nitro's, not so much in the drivetrain but in the suspension.
