Default Engine

Ive seen the Protec run and it looks good but my recommendation would be the Triton L4 or if you wanted even more power the L5. Ive run just about every engine produced over the years and this is by far the easiest to break in and tune. Also the run time is superb.

Novarossi Elite 5. Buy three of them, pipe them differently for buggy and truggy, and keep one as a backup.

Triton L4 with 2034 pipe has all the power you will ever need. Ran lot of engine brands over the years and this one is by far the most powerful and easy to tune. Check the Triton thread in the engine section you'll see everybody is having the same experience not just "team drivers" and fanboys....

I would go OS....B2101 with 2090 pipe for buggy and Speed spec II with a 2090 pipe in truggy....they are expensive but we'll worth the money...you could also try the new Speed Spec III. I haven't gotten one yet, so I can't say much about it yet

Fusion Engine, get a x5R for buggy and X5L for truggy, won't be disappointed, and they have the best customer service bar none! I get 10/11 minutes per tank and I live in Vietnam which is hot as hell and also humid as hell, I run down the OS engines on the straights with 46 on my spur and a 13 on my bell using a 2096/021 pipe set on my buggy.

All brands are about equal, but for me it is all about the support.....

Fusion X5L-C

41021/9901 all around.

2096 if you're on a larger track.

Do not listen to this fool. Yes they are good but if you are new these are not the motors for you. Get a REDS R5R, Novarossi P5, OS XZB, or Picco 5TR.

All under 300 and all great motor. Yea the motors he mentioned are good and powerful but what good is that if you cant drive well enough to utilize that power. I might make you fast on the straights but what about corners? Comes down to driver....not the motor.

The Protech is perfect for buggy with the 2090. But $$$$.

Although my OS .21xz with 2090 came to over $400 IIRC. So a Protek Samurai with pipe for $500 ain't terrible.

I have an extra OS carb sitting around, so I can see a Werks B2 ($150) in my future. Since we rarely have nitro mains longer than 15min, so pit strategy and fuel economy are not in play.

Put a 7 port in your Truggy. A Werks B7 maybe?

You seem to have not read the OP's post very well. I wouldn't be calling anyone a "fool" if I were you.
