iceman,

Is this a new MBX5 ProSpec buggy, or an older used kit? The reason I ask is that Mugen has made a lot of running changes on the car. The latest E0109B front uprights on the MBX5R have much more movement (more steering) than previous revisions. Check your steering end-points (left and right) with the arms level. Aside from that, make sure you are running 1* front toe-out (that is 1* per side). Then follow the rest of Jason's setup. It is a great starting point.

Good luck,

I think i may try some GRP spoke premounts. I am tired of looking on dish wheels.

I gauge by brakes by setting them to approximately where I THINK they are correct, turn the car on, hit the brakes full, and try and roll the front and rear end seperately, feeling the difference between the force required to push each end. Set them based on that....then, take the car on the track and see what feels good. Personally, i think that your breaks should not lock when applied during race conditions....think of a real car...would you want its brakes to lock going into a corner? no.

Mechanical brakes are going to feel ALOT different then speed control and drag brake.

lots of good info here. i just want to ask a question about steering on a prospec. i have one decked out in all king heads parts including the ank bar. it has bump steer where my R doesnt. the ends on the rod are different. the prospec has short straight ends to go on the ball stud where the R has the angled ones. if i used the angled ones on the prospec will it cut down on the bump steer?

What is wrong with bumpsteer?

Not sure if the new ones sit higher or lower than the old. You would have to purchase the ball studs as well to make it work. The new ones were designed to allow for more steering with the new a-arms.

they didnt solve the bumpsteer problem on the R...still there. To solve it just put a 2 mm washer between the ackermann and the servo saver arm.

and to be perfectly honest, if you asked people if they feel the bumpsteer or see it causing undesirable control, they would tell you no. Ive been driving the Prospec for 2 years and cannot feel the bumpsteer.

my r virtually no bump steer while my prospec has about 10 times more than my r. my prospec though has the servo saver spring at the bottom. that makes the acker arm sit alot higher. i got it i just added some washers under the ball stud and took out some of the toe out.

I just checked horizon through my dealer account and they have 4-10 shipping date. Last week the shipping date was 4-4 so I have my fingers crossed. I will let you know if they push the date back again.

The last time I spoke to Mugen they were supposed to be coming in on March 30th. But seeing how the last two orders they got in were a week or two late, my guess is if they didn't come in this past Friday, they'll be here this Friday.
