I'm currently reviewing a Matrix R2 RTR buggy. So far, it goes very well.

Anyone that has driven an R2 RTR (or possibly a prototype FRE):

How competitive can these be against the "big brands" such as Losi, Associated, Xray, etc? I know most of it is driver skill but taking that out of the equation, is there anything holding the new kits back?

I think the FTE will be right there once it's released. Currently I run a converted R2 RTR. By converted I mean, aluminum shock towers Titanium TB's red alum knuckles and bell crank. These are the parts that definitely needed for weight savings and durability. As the R2 RTR is just that (an RTR) there will be other things that may need to be upgraded, to remain durable and competitive. But that brief list is the basics of what I've done.

db

PS> on another note, I've recently gone from the RTR center bones to the Light weight aluminium as the RTR ones bent rather easily. I've also noticed that the Dog bone outdrives are looking a little wobbly, and will likely go back to the old FTE CVD's until the New FTE kit comes out. Hope that helps.

Hi guys,

Just came from a great weekend of racing. Bad luck on A-Main as i got problems with my buggy and had to retire leading just 4 minutes before end of race, but anyway im very happy with the performance of the car, engine, tires, etc ... and the best of all, just having time to spend time with friends at the track.

A friend shoot couple pics of my car in action, so i share with you, hope you enjoy them :

Default shock length?

I was wondering if the front shocks are the same length on both the buggy and truggy? I have the buggy but not a truggy. They look really close.

They are the same although you may have to use the longer shock ends for truggy if you have a Cen TR with the older, longer lower arms.

Thanks, I only have the FRE Buggy. I was thinking about converting it to a Short Course Truck. I figured if the truggy shock tower was the same then I can use the body mounts to mount up the short course body.
