Pm me your secrets too. My Matrix is a bit on the heavy side also and I would like to know how and where I can shave off some weight. Thanks

Ok guys, let's share this in public:
- replaced front and rear upper arms and hubs with another brand arms and turnbuckles; rear hubs need also slightly longer rear universals
- replaced most screws with titanium ones
- have a magnesium head on my engine and lipo receiver battery without the standard switch
- using other brand diffs instead of the stock ones (haven't actually compared to the new CEN diffs with plastic housing and crosspins, might be equal), though I'm currently using BBF all the way which are not lighter (+50 grams)
- have an aluminium rear center drive shaft (can also have in front) and I'm using a lighter front CVD (than the stock) as it is angled
- have the Matrix short race chassis
- have smaller and lighter shocks (not big bore)
- CEN wing and carbon rear tower (CNC in front)
- lightweight wheels (with proline tires, molded insert)
- no other CNC parts except the servo saver arm, plastic suspension blocks etc.
- carbon steering plate also saves few grams and so does the front carbon tower (-8 grams) but beware of the durability on rougher tracks
This is meanwhile we are waiting for the re-matrix to arrive.

Is all of that actually needed or is that just what you have done ?

Yeah, sorry Justin, nothing is needed, Matrix is pretty fast right out of the box, but this is what I've done to make it lighter..you know less weight at right places is good. Though beware, haven't been able to ride this baby yet because of snow. But I feel it should be a good ride and you may want to experiment different variations from this list if not all.. I did a lot of testing with BBF diffs and found them really good on my Matrix.

Good thing about this car is that you can play with different variations/parts etc. I'm a builder by nature so I like to experiment different things. Most importantly, however, is spend a lot of track time .. also good gear otherwise like motor, servos and electrics play a huge part so get these things sorted out first and you'll benefit. Having also parts from one source is good so think twice before going to other vendors parts. There might be also other solutions to reduce weight. Also.. using parts that are not factory recommended may result as a less durable car.

One more thing to add; pipes have also substantial differences in weight, the RB2045 is a really heavy one though I like it otherwise.

Justin, to your question: Just get a good motor and pipe, set of shoes and good pair of servos to start with.

Justin, I would get the CNC front tower at least, depending on your driving skills. Carbon will bent&break if you land badly. You might also consider the CNC servo saver arm, some folks have break the plastic one including myself. These are really only things you'll need in my opinion. Get the CNC knuckles if you happen to strip screws on the stock ones. That has also happened for few people I know. I think I had the same on my TR.
