Gene Im guessing you dont use the CEN spring topper at all, just spacer clips right on the spring?

I use it only if it will put my ride height wear I want it. But it do not do anything except make it easier to add clips.

Default CEN Matrix RTR engine break-in questions

During break-in this evening I noticed how incredible the compression of this engine is. My OFNA Chrome top can't even crank this engine without me having to loosen up the glow plug a bit.
Is this normal? But if I keep the glow plug loose I noticed some fuel coming out of the cooling head hole where the glow plug is, so I tighten it afterwards the engine dies.
My wheels are turning quite a bit even though I'm not applying any pressure to the throttle is this normal? How do I keep this from happening?
I'm currently using the needle settings in the CEN website:
Top end: 3-3.5 turns out
Bottom end: 4.5-5 turns out
Midrange: Flush with silver carb housing.
Thanks in advance

outtafocus, our track is very dry and blown out, too, so let me share my thoughts.
Your diff setup sounds about right, I like 5-5-3 or 3-5-3 (with K diffs)
Upper links (arms) make a difference; I like the inner upper at rear on tower (long link) but in front like the lower mounts. I use the stock plastic rear block most of the time (close to S3T3).
I used to run the "L" chassis for balance with longest wheelbase but lately switched to LiPos and magnesium engine head so I have moved to the "S" chassis. I think it works better now because of the changed weight distribution with lighter head and receiver battery.
With CEN blue springs I have a bit heavier shock fluids to make it less bouncy. I'm using KMW shocks so cannot directly compare the fluids but I have Losi 40 front and rear (pistons #2 front, #3 rear). Shocks lower center front and upper center rear, arms inside. It is pretty hard suspension.
I've been thinking of trying mugen gray springs many people seem to be using and a bit lighter oils just to see if it makes any difference.
My car is very fast in turns and I call pull hard out of them. It rarely flips. If I'm not careful and pull the trigger too hard I can spin or fishtail, but rather rarely even on loose stuff (out of driveline). I use CEN red shoes with 1.0 springs, my engine is RB ws7III.
I haven't limited outtravel (droop), I have maximum droop.
Hope this gives any thoughts, let me hear what you think. Thanks

I always use a heat gun to bring the tmp to 200' before starting the engine during the 1st 4-5 tanks.

It is possible you need to shave off the upper arms a little, to enable steering plate full movement when wheels at the lowest

Yes, use a button head screw with a washer and grind the arms some at a 45' angle.

outtafocus, shocks actually front upper and rear lower on tower, but you should be fine with upper holes on both ends with stock shock bodies. have also shaved rear upper links wheel side so I can use the upper holes on hub but the hub not rubbing against wheel. have also removed material from lower arms where the shock end is mounted (inside). this way I get max droop front and rear. edit: I tried mugen gray springs and they were good. I put rear shock on upper hole. It was a wet track so 5-5-3 would have been better than 3-5-3 I guess.

Hi there
I've been running my matrix lately with carbon towers and shock ressies.. I think it can take more beating now without the front tower breaking because the ressies soften the hits when landing badly or in collisions... If you see what I mean. It's geat. Have you seen the same??
Awesome car!

Gene, just wanted to get your opinion on the Radical 628. I've had my eye on it for a while. Only thing I was concerned about was getting parts and the cost of the sleeve and piston.

It was great. I was getting over 8 minutes on a tank at the Farm 2. It has good bottom end, good top, great fuel milegae. Radical is supposed to get everything back in stock next month.
