With the stock diffs, try 80wt gear oil/3,000/grease
Or just get the cross pins and use 5,000/5,000/2,000

For shocks, use #2 pistons in the front with CEN 30wt and #3 pistons in the rear with Cen 30wt - that is the best starting point.

I need to order a main gear for my matrix, not sure which one though. I see 2 in the parts list;
GS006
MSX24

Are they the same or different teeth count?

Actually I need the spur gear, not diff gear. (but was going to get crosspin set)
I was going to also order,
a clutch bell, bumper, shock booties, preload spacers, shock cap inserts.
More to add.
Do you have parts?

you want the MXS24, its the steel 46T spur, I think the other number is the old cast 46T version, which you really dont want, I stripped basically every tooth off the cast version within a few races, and I've got an entire season + on the steel one and it still looks like new,

Just get Mugen preload spacers instead. They fit fine and give you a wider range of adjustment.

You guys at Headrushhobbies, if I find another site online that has a cheaper price than you, do you guys beat the price?

No LHS here so I do most of my shopping online.

I am not sure if this was already asked, but what was is the stock diff configuration that the matrix RTR comes with diff fluid wise? I like how it feels out of the box, may just up the shock oil but I want to give it a good clean out and know what its configuration was first before doing this.

I am thinking its either 3K-3K-3K or 5K-5K-5K .

I am also going to try using just 1 aluminum clutch shoe and the two carbon ones. Do you need to shim behind those carbon shoes like the aluminum ones?

Also, how do you know when you shot a set of shoes?

aluminum shoes will get a bunch of build up on the edges and over the spring, also on the tip, if you check them regularly, you can file them, and get alot more life out of them, you can usually file them a few times before they are worn down too much, usually they are completely done when your clutch springs starts dragging the clutch bell, but one thing to consider, the more material you wear off the shoes, its going to change the way the clutch reacts because the weight is going to change, its probally not a huge difference thoguh,

for composite shoes, you can probally use them till just before the spring starts to drag, since they wegiht so much less anyway, the weight differecne for wear isn't going to make as much difference, just make sure your clutch isn't slipping and melting the shoes, if its slipping it will build up a lot of heat,

thanks for the info, very informative.

Another question, I don't think I fully understand the differences between using the 1.1mm spring versus a 1.0mm spring for the clutch shoes. Can someone give me some insight into this?
