some time things come togather when you when figure your going to have to buy a new part so if ruin the old one you won't feel so bad. i think my gt's
threads are about that short i might have a threat or two more then yours glad you
worked it out

Maybe this thread is over, but I don't see how cutting the chip out will make any difference unless the chip was preventing the nut from threading on beyond it.

made no sense to me either. I thought I was wasting my time with cutting the thread off, but I had nothing left to look at. Was totally shocked when it worked.
