just buy a set of hex wrenches the car uses all metric hardware. and i would suggest a 2.5mm ball head hex wrech to take the engine out without having to re set gear mesh. all hex wrenches are the same for the most part i would just buy the kit with different colored handles for each size so you can ask some one to hand you the green, blue, red driver instead of them searching for the 2mm, i think they are all the same and i would buy the cheapest you can find.

Hello again,
Thank you for a the links MOTORMAN.I have my heart set on a OS VSPEC so I am going that direction. Is the pipe that comes with the H8 a crappy pipe or will it be suitable for the VSPEC.Also I think I will hold off on the bearings for the motor at least to see if I have any problems first.Am I a dummy for thinking that,I just have faith in OS motors. What is the difference between the OS 2050 and the OS 2060 pipes?

Tested the new 2060 pipe a few weekends ago, I was really impressed, I
felt comparing it to the 2050 the 2060 had more bottom to mid power.
The 2050 has the advantage if smooth power is needed. both pipes are
real good its a tuff descision on which to run.

Mark Pavidis response 222 of 1872: Jan 26 11:03 EST 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 2050 pipe is very responsive and is a good pipe on a technical
track. The 2060 pipe is a little smother on bottom and loves long
straigts. This pipe would have been good in Sweden at the worlds.

Mark Pavidis response 1694 of 1872: Jun 19 17:34 EDT 2006

Yes the 2050 is a two chamber pipe where the 2060 is a 3 chamber. The
2060 is a much smoother pipe. Both excellent on fuel mileage.

also, you will love the spec man it is crazy how much power a 3 port can put out.

add the extra shim for at gal then take it out.

and heat the motor up before you even turn over the motor.

i heat mine up to 250 -260 then started it.

do the heat thing for first 1.2 or gal and your motor will last you a long time.

1 6 gal
2 5 gal
3 6 gal
so on and so on.

just a tip i'm passing a long from the high dogs.

and if you don't feel like you have pinch then you are cool.

you don't want pinch if you have pinch your motor still needs to be broken in.

The stock Werks carb is working just fine on my engines. I noticed
that the carbs needle settings are a bit firmer than before and they
hold a tune perfectly.

I have not checked how many turns out my carb is. I just do it by eye.
The top end should be just under 2mm below the end of the sleeve, the
bottom end should be 1.5mm above flush, and the midrange is the only
one i check by feel. It should be 1 1/4 turns out.

With these settings Kortz and I have had great power at good temps.
Kortz uses the Hobao pipe and I use the Werks 086 with smooth bend
header.

the only pipe i recomend for the o.s. is the 2060 i have never ran an o.s. engine but the guys around me like them, they are known as smooth fast powerful engines but they are not known for there longevity. you should be able to get 10 gal. out of an engine. and that is not common for an o.s. but with that pipe i have heard people say they get 11min. runtime. so o.s. great engines if you can afford to run them.

if you want to go with an engine known for longevity it would be any any italian mill especially the novarossi's, i have heard multiple guys at my track say they have had the same nova engine for 2 years. one guy says he has 15gal. thru his. a good pipe for this engine is the jp-3 three chamber pipes are gonna be the next thing because they provide good power and longer run time. my next engine will be either the nove 3 port or the collari 3 port as i have heard good things about both, but it should be awhile since i only have about 3 gallons on my p5x. if your not sure about tuning an engine stay away from any engine over $200 you do not want to blow up a $300 engine learning how to tune. if you like o.s. i would tell you to fist buy an r.g. with a king headz cooling head. those engines actually put out a lot of power for the price and will give youa chance to get comfortable tuning and with the car. then you can shelf it before its used up and keep it as a backup.

in 1/8 at the club level there is no need imo to run any engine over $200 and those engines really only shine on smooth large tracks. on tight tracks or rough tracks the engine has very little to do with what place you finish. i have tq'd the expert class at my local track running a ofna hyper .21 8port.

imo at the club level there is no need for anything other than a 3 port economy engine. anything else is to show off and will not make you faster around the track.

From what I have read so far I think the Vspec is a 4 port! Where are you getting these pro posts from I am very curious. So what was the definition of pinch as I know very little are you referring to the tightness of the piston/sleeve?

Hey ROCKET thanks for the post.I am partial to OS motors and did consider the RG but have decided to go with the Vspec.I know it will be way too fast but if I can control my trigger finger I think I will be alright.I have that GT and it has no traction so I have learned to control my trigger finger some! I think I will be able to tune a motor as I do understand motors some and have done it once before.Did you say in previous posts that you raced Motocross.Well I also raced from about 88 to 90 my last race was when I was in Arizona. It was a national at this track north of Phoenix.I ran 250 beg. and placed about mid pack which I thought was ok.

the v-spec is a 3 port WHO TOLD it was a 4 port. os don't make nothing but 3 ports motors.

rg
the v99
v01b
vzb
v-spec

all 3 ports.

definition of pinch is a metal to metal tightnest.

what you want is a Compression type feel.

kind of like air pressure.. smooth, baby butt smooth
