Thanks for the clarification, Torrance! For some reason, I thought Josh had something to do with it since the Apache is based off the D8/D8T platform.

Maifield's buggy from this past weekend at the Lonestar Challenge. From the video I have seen, he looked to be back on pace with it as well....

with what look like K springs (stripped of paint) and shocks. I think they should just let the AE guys run whatever brand car they want. They are just holding the drivers back.

kyosho shocks, avid rc towers and a few other mods..

in the end I wonder if a RC8.3 will come out or rather an upgraded RC8.2

maybe AE could look for the upgrades drivers are most commonly using on their RC8.2 and sell a kit with them included idk..

AE did that before the RC8 was out. Guess which brand Cavalieri drove?

You do know Thunder Tiger owns AE (now and at the time of the link posting), correct?

Wasn't Cavalieri on the team in 2006? My point is that Cavalieri had the Kyosho because he chose so, Mayfield and Saxton choose the S3, why I don't know. Shouldn't be S3 for all the team?

Not always. Flops do happen. Just go back a decade at the onroad side and look at the disaster that was the Serpent Veteq. That car pretty much destroyed the company and took years to get their act back together with new ownership.

More recently another company came out with a new car, sent a bunch of them to the worlds and they all got beat by the one team driver that was still using the old car. A few months later, an alternative conversion kit went up for sale changing half the car.

As for running parts from other manufacturers, Collari won a Euro A title when running for Kyosho using a car that was about 70% Mugen.

All of these "hybrid" cars remind me of the old days in Supercross / Motocross when the factory bikes were nothing like what the public could buy. Wildly different frames, Showa suspension on brands that had KYB in the showrooms etc. Not to mention all of the completely unobtanium engine parts.
