Top 2 drivers in Open Buggy disqualified for being sponsored!! Lol. They wrote their sponsor name on the driver info sheet.

There was one local guy running open that was sponsored. I think he actually won the open class at DNC one year. He got 60th or something though. Punishment enough.

The "no sponsored drivers in the open class" has always been the rule it has just never been enforced like it has this year. There was even some talk of changing the name of the classes to make it more clear. If you have a 50% chassis/ car mfg deal then you can't race in the open class. The theory is that these drivers have an advantage to keep their cars newer than the unsponsored driver. Drivers have been expected police themselves and I guess that didn't work out to well.

Might need to be Pro and Int/Sportsman. That might make it more clear for them.

Hell, do pro and novice. Ha ha...

In RC pro series, if you qualify faster than the slowest guy in the next class up, you get bumped.

How do they continue to let Hudy run open? I'll never make the main in pro or come close but he has a better sponsorship than I do, Can I run open also then? I'm being sarcastic about me running open, I wouldnt because of the rule, but how do they let him get away with it. He probably wont ever make an open main but he is still taking spots away from legit open drivers that could move up or bump up a main.

He ran pro. Every time.

Actually looks like he ran both classes.

Dude is 60. Not really a driver anymore. Doesn't bother me.

This is is one thing I can't wrap my head around with nitro racing, why is there a "open class" to begin with? I am all for ditching it. Base classes on chassis specs only or age (40+), then let clock figure out where you should be seeded in the mains. Hand out trophies for every main equals problem solved. No more sandbagging!

A 50% chassis deal is about the same(price wise) as being with a hobby shop and getting stuff at cost..

One lets you race open, the other gets you DQ'd..
