Review of the RB One R competition buggy

This a translation of my review of the RB R pro buggy published in French RCmag

After the creation of their first cars, the RB One and RB One RTR, 2 years ago, the guys at RB
have worked hard to elaborate a real competition chassis:
the RB R, using more than 80% new parts against the rtr version.
This new car was to be compact and modern, and was designed specially to be easy to drive and easy to work on, and also to manage the highest competition level.

Frenchman, Alex Charpin was the main designer, and testdriver, during the 2012 saison, followed by sending trial prototypes to an international driversteam
amongst them the brothers Reckward in Germany, who both recently signed with the RB Racing team

The kit box comes quite compact and decorated in the typical RB colours, known from their engines, metalic grey with orange and black lettering
On the side appairs a big R to specifie this race version
The box seems quite heavy, because of the many plastic parts of the rtr version still left on the grapes and the cnc parts.

Was that the extent of the innovations? The box is decorated? I'm not trying to sound like a jerk but what's so great and different about it? Damn there are so many good buggies out today I'm not even sure there is room for another one.

Here's a great link with photos of EVERYTHING: http://www.rcmag.com/modules.php?nam...er=asc&start=0

The buggy is made by King Star, so the quality is probably identical to the Durango 408's, HPI D812, SWorkz, etc.

A Main is blowing out the price on these. I almost bought one but was worried with A Main being the only major seller in America, I'd be SOL if they dropped the line.

Jaz240 04-16-2013 01:12 PM

A main is the USA distributer for RB. We get all our RB products from them. I was just curious as to what makes it different? Thanks for the link Ill check it out.

Oops, I should've said dropped the buggy, not the line - inferring all of RB.*

I am pretty confident as the USA distributor A main has an obligation to stock the complete line including the buggies. I would guess the contract has an end date and if the product does not move well they can re-negotiate from there. I am glad they decided to pick up where Jim left off. RB has some awesome products that sell very well for us.

Most exclusive distributorship agreements are a year.

Review seems to be absent...

the box is egg-full, above we see the bag with the white wing and the special little sub-wing cross-bar and the body
below this, the bag with the manual and antenna, and one notices also a bag with several bottles of oil, some grease
and blue threadlock,
at the bottom, we find 2 big bags with plastic parts and a third big bag with the parts specific for the R version.
So this kit seems very complete and luxurious, just no wheels or tires are present.. what I prefer in the end.

oops.. it's coming..

I am trying to do everyone a favor by translating my review and give exact comments, but that takes time
and I just have 1-2 hours a day to do it
if anyone has a problem with that, I just stop..

The body looks modern and classic same time and I like it a lot.
Up front, to make a nice whole, a nose part is fixed to the front bulkhead, at the rear, a slot is to be cleared for the rear brace.
The lexan seems tick enough, so it should be strong enough.
A sheet of bodydecals and windowmasks is present too

The wingmount is innovating with a one-piece cross-bar which looks like a little sub-wing
