Is there something I may have done wrong or missed, or is it common to have to have different shims on each side? Thanks for any insight.
I've always found it tricky to set camber on a pillow ball suspension. If the wheels are turned just the slightest bit, or one side compressed more than the other, the settings can go crazy on you. I've always just made sure to have the same thickness shims on both sides.

PSM makes some nice easy to insert Pillowball suspension shims without taking the whole thing apart and I am waiting for AMain to stock them to get some.

Pretty sure the RC8B3 is going to be the main 1/8 platform until 2018.

Do the +2 ackerman plates make the steering more or less aggresive?

Default Rc8b3 Diff help

I just got my Rc8b3 and built the diffs per the supplemental sheet but when I tighten the screws the diff locks. I have two washers on the planet gears and two washers on the outdrive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

INTERNAL DIFF SHIMMING 101
The internal diff shimming on the RC8B3 is different than the kits in the past. The supplement included with the kit can only explain so much, so here are the tips I've put together with input from Richard Saxton and Kody Numedahl:
1) When building the diffs new and checking the shimming, build them without any fluid. This will be the best way to "feel" the diff action. Basically you want the diffs as tight of shimming as possible without any crunchy feeling. Some drag is okay, but definitely not notchy.
2) Start with the shimming as tight as possible. This is achieved by having two shims behind each planet gear, two shims behind each sun gear and no paper gasket. If the diff action is notchy, you'll need to "loosen" the mesh some.
3) The first way to loosen the mesh is to add the paper gasket. If the action is now smooth, stop here. If not, proceed to step 4.
4) If the diff action is still notch, remove the paper gasket along with one shim behind the sun gear on the ring/spur gear.
5) If the action is still rough, add the paper gasket back in.
This is as loose as we've found you'll have to run the shimming. Each diff is slightly different, so make sure you take your time with this part.
NOTE: The the screws should be VERY TIGHT in to the pumpkin. Most don't tighten them enough and this allows the internal gear mesh to vary. Richard suggests using ti screws here to get the best bite.

Question for those that run the reds quattro clutch..

For those that have tried the sworks front arms.. did you notice a difference in the way it handles? I just got my b3 and picked up a set of the sworks arms and noticed that the lower arm shock mounting holes are offset higher and lower on that arm.

thanks , chris
