I was wondering if the duratrax buggy-truggy tires are worth trying. I can buy them for about half price compared to other name brand. I would be strickly using for racing. which ones are the better all around I now use tazer,cityblocks,gridirions and digits to name a few.

I've own a handful of different DTX 1/8th buggy tires if you can get the C3 compound (soft-super soft) cheap I wouldn't pass up the deal.


As most seasoned racers will tell you, different manufacturers compounds favor certain track conditions more so than similar or same tire tread patterns alone. I'm a firm believer not one tire manfacturer is superior over the competition. There's always that one tire in XYZ compound that is miles ahead of everyone else for that particular track/day. With that being said, you might get different opinions on DTX tires (some maybe from fanboys of other brands). But my point is, they do make really good tires, however since they are sold under "duratrax" many people stay clear because they aren't known for making "race quality tires" even though the actual tire manufacturer is a reputable company from europe (www.louiserc.com)


I've tried the following DTX tires which are right on par with any of the big name brands.

Posse C3 (soft-supersoft)
Shotgun C3 (soft-supersoft)
X-Cons C3 (soft-supersoft)
Persuader C3 (soft-supersoft)
Persuader C4 (indoor wet clay compound)

The DTX line of truggy tires is rather slim, so I stick with my usual AKA and JConcepts, but I run DTX tires on both my son's 4WD SCT, and my 2WD.

The foams are really good closed cell material, the C3 compound is super sticky, and the tire wear is very good. At a recent race, there was another driver using Louise RC tires, and sure enough they were identical. Even the DTX wheels are differently packaged Louise RC wheels.

I tell ya, for the money, the DTX tires are hard to beat. There have been several skeptics converted at my local tracks.

I ran some Line Ups in C3 this past season on a hardpack track and I was pleasantly surprised. Predictable grip and the wear is excellent.

That C3 compound is really good. I tested the C1 compound and it is close to the grip but wear is 200-300% better.

No kidding? I had my hands on a set of the C1 Line Up tires at a race this past summer. They did feel great to the touch.

I have not seen c1 just c2 and c3 so they are harder?

The ones I saw were a pre-production set. They are "harder" but they still felt sticky if that makes any sense.
