Nitro Fumes How Hazardous Alarming News
I read a post on a very sad thread -Porkchop Passing- and I wanted to know more about this subject and I didn't want to take away and change the subject IE topic. It was stated that nitro fumes caused a serious health issues so much so he passed.
I've been in this hobby for awhile. I know smelling fuels directly from the pipe is seriously bad it makes your eyes cry your body can't handle your forced to step away just as if your entering a NRHA nitro car pit with his engines running. Once its airborne it would suspect is loses its strength which leads me into all these indoor races very concernining
Does anyome have any facts or thoughts.

I don't think Nitro had anything to do with what happened. Chop had been dealing with health issues for years.

Here in mn we race Nitros indoors a few times a year. The fumes never really got to a point were it was noticeable. I mean the indoor motocross track in Wisconsin is way worse. After a full day of riding you would have a serious head ace from the fumes.
I think if one had underlining Health issues I would assume breathing in nitro fumes would Deffinetly not help ones conditions.

If nitro fumes had anything to do with it, it would be very unusual. It could be that he had other health problems that were known or not that did not react well to the nitro fumes.

Dont let Bloomberg see this thread or Nitro will be next, lol. Have not raced much indoor nitro but everytime I did, I felt like s$&% the next day with a pounding headache. Body trying to tell me something I guess. If it were the nitro in this young man's unfortunate death, I am sure he was well aware of the possibilities and what-if's. Die hard racers will race in very dangerous conditions because that is their passion in life and NOTHING gets in the way.

Carbon Monoxide is probably more dangerous than any other fumes. The headaches associated with most indoor motor events is CO and not the fuel or additives in the fuel.

I haven't raced with Chops in a looong time. But I remember him mentioning...
I don't think nitro fumes had anything to do with his passing.
But I'm sure he may have mentioned being sick of nitro fumes or something.
Besides, aren't methanol fumes heavier than air. Unless your sniffing the floor you shouldn't have problems. Methanool,is know to actually be quite safe.
Overexposure is pretty obvious and requires alot. Treatment is easy.
Not to mention you can't acidentally inhale methanol and not know it. It has a very strong odor. If you hardly notice it, chances are it can't hurt you.

Not disrespect as I don't know the 100% story. But I knew chop from Xbox and on here. He had health issues. Yes fumes are dangerous but that's not the reason completely he was fighting illness for awhile . Just trying to enjoy his love which may have made it worse but it wasn't just the fumes I think. Chop was a cool guy and helpful. Wishes to his family and grandma. Now the fumes are bad, motorama was canceled for nitro because people got sick a few days after because the ventilation wasn't good enough. That's y it's on e allowed now.

I don't consider the fumes to be anymore harmful to the human body than all the fast food crap people eat while at the track.
Which is worse ?
