Porkchop was a close friend of mine and of my children, they grew up togther racing and just hanging out. Chops touched so many people all over the country, either in R/C or on X-BOX. He was larger then life in size and in character, and with nothing but kindness and joy in his heart, unless you where in his way as he lapped you, lol.

He changed Medina RC Raceway, he helped make it what it is today.

This fall we will be building a new drivers stand and it will bear his name and hopefully no one will ever forget him or what he did for us.

The 3rd annual Diabetes Charity Race, on August 4th, will be re-named the
"Charles PORKCHOP Garten" memorial race. with proceeds going to the American Diabetes Associtation

What a tough pill to swallow. Porkchop was a great kid and I already miss him. I didn't get to race RC with him much but I did play Xbox with him often.

I don't believe nitro fumes played a role in his death but I know it has caused problems for others. If I'm not mistaken he hadn't raced any nitro especially indoor for quite some time because he had gotten sick from it at Motorama a couple years ago. I think he was diabetic and I know he played Xbox 24/7 and drank a ton of Mt Dew and certainly had some issues unrelated to RC.

I really feel bad for his grandmother. As many of you know Porkchops mother had passed a while ago and it was just him and his grandmother living there.
