Default Inside addition, What happened to these companies?

Did you ever wonder what happened to a certain brand or a certain rc vehicle that is no longer produced? Well I do!!

For one (CEN) They seemed to start of strong with some great vehicles but what happened? Quality control, parts supplies, tried to grow to fast?

Then Duratrax, Always iffy with many nitro vehicles and they finally just fizzled with the Warhead and the raze.

Then the Tower Terror, in my opinion was and is one hella of a basher, mine was bullet proof, and a blast to run.

Ya gotta wonder what happened.

Feel free to add any companies and rc vehicles you are curious about.

CEN is still around and going strong. yes they had some supply issues recently but they have changed structure a little and things are definatly better. They have some new chassis releases due very soon.

I'm right there with you, man. My first RC was the Duratrax Max ST Pro... And damn that thing never broke a single part. The 2 speed was problematic, but once I converted to a steel spur, it was GOLD. I really wanted to give them more money with the Raze.... Now we're waiting for that DRX8E or whatever. I'll buy it.

And I remember 4 years ago or so, someone had the CEN MT2, HEAVILY modded, and raced with surprising success.

It's nice to hear CEN is making a comeback. But I fear the veil of smoke cast by HobbyKing, RedCat, and ZD Racing may tarnish their return.

Ive heard that Ohh so many times.....Imo they've shot themselves in the foot and its only a matter of time before they bleed out and are dead for good.

These cars are all the kind of cars that show up at my track on my practice day.

Or at least the day I try to practice. Usually I waste all my time trying to get those El Cheapo buggies to work for those new racers. Junk is hard to tune. I feel bad for the poor racers that thought they could save a few bucks with those things.

Those companies aren't around because they stunk. There, I said it. Someone had to lay down the tough love.

I started racing in the early 90's. Bolink was a company that had cars, bodies, body wash, ect. The legend cars were a very good spec class for many of the tracks in the area.

The bolind legends class was cool. A spec car that was like $40, spec battery/tires/motor, bushings.

Duratrax recently released the electric 1/8th scale race level vehicle, the DXR8-E. They also announced this morning to be releasing an RTR nitro 1/8th buggy early July. Plus they have stepped up their game a lot with their performance tires and lots of great pit accessories!

I have heard nothing but bad horror stories about the super tiger .27 motor. Just read the warhead threads on rcuniverse. I have a rtx warhead with the .27 super tiger and i am afraid to lean it out for fear of it going poof! It did blow during break in, I used the traxxas method break in and ran odonell 20%. Now if it ran like the os .18 in the nitro evader, id be loving it! That was one great running stadium truck and it was durable to.

Does anyone know what chemical Bolink's body wash actually was? Because it was some pretty strong stuff.

Almost think it might have been acetone free nail polish remover. Because the BL stuff def. took paint off.
