Yeah they do say hybrid on the sidewall but Ryan did tell my friend he was running black jackets which arent released yet. He probably ran both at some point

TBH it doesn't really matter if their cars are factory or not because they are in a league all their own which is why they get paid to do it. You never really know what they have going on but I can promise you this, they can take a turd and make it look good. They set-up their cars much like professional race car drivers(setting up for their particular style of driving, and what they feel like the car is doing vs. what it should be doing on the track.)

I focus more on what I run rather than what they run

They have been selling Black Jackets as qualifying tires at large events. A buddy of mine picked up 3 sets at AMS last weekend. They just haven't been released on the site yet.

Maifield is using aluminum Kyosho front steering blocks, or at least shaved stock blocks.

dont expect a new truck anytime soon. mailfield just kiled it at ams , saw it in person a few weeks ago same thing he always ran he runs the old carbon ft towers still. I dont think theres any need to try and fix what is not broke.

I would like to chime in and say that there is a scary amount of people who take this stuff way to seriously. What does it matter if Ryan Maifield machines his own shock tower or not? If that makes the hobby less enjoyable for any of you, you really should find another hobby and maybe even seek therapy. 99.99999999% of us will never be at that level of racing even if God himself hand made us a kit. Go have fun racing with your buddies and don't lose sleep over which custom made tire inserts Jerad Tebo is running.

i think y'all blown this out of proportion, the question was "what are they actually running" it was never about going as fast as them, there immortal we know that, but a better handling buggy is a better handling buggy in anybodies hands, proven fact is Tys d8, i haven't talked to a guy yet that said he was slower with the Change, and we wouldn't have that mod if it wasn't for either a Pic or a guy like me who would walk up to one of them and ask "what is it you actually run"...don't think for a second every little bit doesn't counts cause it does......

It's pretty a exorbitant statement for anyone to say these guys could still be competitive with a Redcat, etc.

At that level every little difference matters. Period. Otherwise they wouldn't do half the stuff they are.

It might not be "broke", but there is still the insatiable, blind (and annoying) need for novelty for novelty's sake in 8th scale racing.. In reality the AE truggy is probably completely fine and competitive as is, but for marketing and more sales they need at least a facelift of some kind, just to feed that lemming mentality.. AE is too good to not realize that, which is why it wouldn't surprise me to see some kind of truggy update by the end of the year.. Which on the one hand yeah is dumb, because the current trug is good as is, but on the other, OK fine - I'll buy the current model when it gets marked down to make way for the new one....

Exactly. The car setup or a set of tires can be the difference between tha Amain and Fmain for these guys at the Worlds or Nationals. There's a ton of fast pro drivers now.
