RC10GT Big Block Conversion

It seems to have been awhile since something like this was posted so I thought I would share a project I picked up off Ebay. I read all of the old threads on the internet, along with watching the YouTube vids and could not resist.

The original truck came pretty much complete sans a body. The motor was a never ran "ported" .21 Novarossi P5X, that judging from the last tank I put through it would be a serious hot rod, but it was a bump start and the New Era conversion kit was designed for a pull start. I picked up an AE .28 with Roto Start as a replacement and life is much easier. I did put the batteries up front, as done before, to help keep the front end down. What is cool is when this thing launches the whole chassis just kind of lifts up like a drag boat lifts out of the water on take off.

I just picked up the larger Traxxas tank tank and an air filter from an RC8 that tucks in nicely between the motor and the shock tower. I also have a set of metal gears coming for the tranny as I already fried the stock diff gear. I have many more upgrades in the works along the lines of strengthening the whole set up along with 8th scale buggy or truggy wheels.

There really isn't much use for this other than just a fun project. If have three other RC10GT's, two with .15's and one with an .18. This is definately different.

More to come.

By seeing the rear tires, I assume you have extra power! LOL

I don't have a means to video, but will see what I can borrow.

Extra power definately on tap. Had it out in the dirt today with some 8th scale buggy tires that helped with traction, but narrowed the track too much which hurt the overall handling (too many roll overs). Did a few street passes with the 8th scale tire setup and talk about squirly! At speed those tires would spin up as sharp as pencils making the straight line handling very scary. The slightest twitch in the stearing would have been a serious issue. This thing would drift in feet, not inches. More to come.

If your're looking for another RC10GT project or a full cars worth of parts, got one for sale with an O.S. .12. Cheap. Check the buy/sell
