Ok first off sorry for starting this thread in advance but i have been searching all over this forum for the right truggy for me. Ive been looking into gettin a kit or rtr. Ive had a nitro sedan for many years now and love it. Im on a somewhat tight budget for this project but im sure i will end up spending more than i want since i probably will hit the track for some fun. Now with that being said which truggies out there are more bang for the buck yet good enough to race with. Im not a real experienced racer in the rc world but i can hold my own. I want to get some opinions on what i should invest in. Thanks in advance and let the debate begin lol

Best bang is always a losi rtr. Comes with everything but fuel.

+1 on the Losi RTR's. I had both the buggy and truggy at some point to "cut my teeth". Starting out, I recommend these to anyone.

However, I will also say that I had to replace the steering servo's within the first 1/2 gallon of both vehicles. I went w/ quality HITEC servos and I'm still using the exact ones today.

Losi or associated will work both are good truggies..but out the box you will have to upgrade you equiptment servos ,engines lol!

Thanks i really apprieciate the advice. I know i had to put good servos in my on road car and that helped a ton. What size engines are guys running for these? Different sizes for different racing classes?

If you want a good truggy and are willing to buy the radio and engine seperate I wouldn't hesitate to give the Hotbodies D8T a go. I am a Losi guy all the way but recently bought the D8T's for my son and I. I love that truggy. Handles well and at 300 bucks can't be beat. Just my opinion....

Yeah i have a decent radio already so i could just use that one. Whats a decently priced engine for these?

Werks B2, Orion Discovery, Nova P5x,, all very good engines and at great prices as well, oh ya and the fusion x3 as well check out the Houston Engines Thread and talk to Monty, i dont even own one of his engines but man that guy is awesome and his support 2nd to none. Pm him and he will send you in the right direction at the right price.

Whats your price range? The WERKS B2 is 160 or so. WERKS B5 is around 200.

I had a Fusion X3 before, my son used it in his truggy. It worked ok in a truggy, better in buggy but it did the job in the truggy as well.

There are a ton of good engines around and below the 200.00 price range. Do a search on engines in these forums. Almost all of the engines mentioned in this thread have their own thread going.

Good luck with what ever you choose.

You need a realistic budget.

Truggy 400-600
Servos 200
Rx 100
Engine 250
Starter box 100
Bats rx20, starter box 40

And if your Tc was not nitro
Fuel bottle 10
Glow ign 25
Etc

So it gets to 1300 + easily a la cart...

You won't go wrong with Kyosho ST RR EVO. Ok I'm being biased here since I love Kyosho. But if you really want a good one, I heard Serpent and Mugen has good truggy but of course after EVO .

I was advised to run .21 engine (those used on buggy) for truggy. It will give you better nitro mileage comparing the .28

It's not for racing, stick with the mainstream brands, Losi, Associated, Mugen, Serpent, Kyosho.

well, there is a tough one....???
what to buy and the why's and how's...???
and great Question.....

well i run for a different company..
however it would be hard to Argue,
the Losi RTR series be a Good bet
as well as the HotBodies if you have some equipment already
as one person stated at around $300.00 it's a tough deal to beat.
oddly enough there priced at a point where there Less than
"some" people with 50% chassis sponsorships get there stuff at !!!....LOL
so like being sponsored without the red tape...

but,first i would ask.....

ok, if i get the "X" truggy instead of "Z" one..???
will the local shop have parts...???

does it matter if i have to order online...???

can the local hobby shop help me if i have Questions..????

i mention the 2 above since there not so "Exotic"
that there are no Retailers around?

if you do not mind ordering online? and if your able to get a few parts
extra in case you "Happen" to break "Something"
then "Any Truck" will be Awesome !!!
Losi,Mugen,HotBodies,Team C, Kyosho,Associated etc.
but check your local retailers, the best car is only as good
as the parts you can "Get at the places you race"....
if you dont have the $1.50 part that might be pretty common on other cars?
your packing up and going home?
instead of running the mains with your Buds !!
and waiting a few days till your parts come in the mail...

however if neededing to get extra Equipment the Losi
will be a better bet, comes with everything.....
except a few minor items? i am sure some will point out..???
other than the full blown race version, only differences are the towers
chassis,and shock caps pretty much everything else is the "Same"

for motors, can't go wrong with a Nova P5 or a Werks B5.....
both motors are "Stump Pullers" fast,Economical,
and can find parts at most places for those motors.....
Nova's 21-4 series motors can find for around $215.00 to $230.00
the Werks B5 series there "Everywhere" for around $199.99
the "Pro Version" of the B5 is around $240.00 and "Silly Fast"..LOL

now servos...here is a tough one...???
everyone has there favorites...???
but with any RTR be a good idea to Upgrade when you can...
and anything with around 300 oz. is plenty of tourqe
350 or more is better but at "Least" 300 oz.
and with Speeds of .09 to .14 are pretty fast........
