That's the first I have ever heard about Kyosho boxes... Even the hobby shops here rate them and I've never read a thread saying there bad. But noted and thanks, still hasn't put me off one

I wonder if it's the cheaper version as I know they do one which uses another brand name but is made by Kyosho?!

Has anyone replaced the starter wheel on this kyosho box yet? The bearings need to come out of the old wheel and go into the new wheel. I'm not sure what the technique is to get the bearings out. Any help would be appreciated.

Kyosho not worth it.
OFNA, Mugen, or Protek is what I would suggest.
I use the ofna blue box and have had it for at least 7 years. The only thing I have replaced on it is the starter wheel. Been using a 4s lipo on it the last 3 years.
Rock solid.

I have both the black and red one. For truggy they work great, but for buggy I needed to drill two new holes so I could use 4 pins on my kyosho mp9's. When in America Monty let me use his OFNA starter box and it was great as well. I actually prefer the kyosho box as they are pretty light and they work great on a new engine with a heater any box should start it easily and with dual motors if you don't heat your engine you will have no problems starting a new engine. I have also ran hudy, exceed and losi but between these four I prefer the kyosho box by far, witht he OFNA and Kyosho box it is a toss up..... I did notice however that the kyosho wheel seems to last much longer than any other wheel I have seen...

But I am a bit concerned by what drstrangelove said about the Kyosho being heavy and an uncomfortable handle.

So still thinking
Compared to a losi or hudy or even exceed the Kyosho box is NOT uncomfortable to handle nor is it heavy it is actually fairly light
