Shock Service
Is it safe to use Non-Chlorinated brake cleaner for cleaning broken down shocks? If not what do you guys recommend? I also seem to be having some problems when building my shocks back up. After installing the bladder, and wiping off the excess oil, after sealing the cap the shock will not compress all the way. I know the problem is to much oil, but how much oil is right? How high do you fill these things prior to putting them back together?

Maybe this will help. I use Naptha to clean shocks and diffs.

Non-chlorinated.
For the shock threads, i spray simple green on them and let them soak for a bit if i have time. Otherwise i will just blast the whole shock body.
When your filling your shock body with oil, fill it up to the top of the shock body...when you put the bladder on the shock body and wipe off the excess, but before you crank down the shock cap, compress the shock 2-3 mm for FULL REBOUND.

For shocks: I just use soap and water - well simple green.. I only use the spray cleaner at the track.
